This is a modern looking restaurant but too dark for our taste. We ate with candle light a good meal, not spectacular, not bad and also not very expensive. Big plus: they serve beer.
Favorite Dish: Good gazpazo - cold soup. Had a dish of meat with couscous, nice. The other dish, something with cheese, was a bit too heavy, over cooked.

This place, when I lived in Cairo, made the finest lentil soup I've ever had. It was delicate and filled with flavor and the kitchen was so confident in our return that when we ordered delivery, they sent over an earthenware tureen with no question of it being returned.
This is a sure shot for fantastic fare!
Favorite Dish: The delicous lentil soup.

I have to be honest, food was not the best in Cairo. Other then the pizza parlour (see separate tip), tended to head for this place for dinner. If you are veggie, its not a problem eating throughout the city, but this is the only bona fide vegetarian restaurant. Small, western-style (lots of candles!), simple, friendly, comfortably decorated. Upstairs is a popular bar (cool-jazz style)
Favorite Dish: Most dishes.

Cairo's only vegetarian restaurant and it's really nice as well. We were in the bar on the 2nd floor one evening having a grand old time. They even serve beer during Ramadan. Our waiter was entertaining us with matchstick tricks. It was great when I solved one of them and he said I was very clever because he'd shown the trick 10 times and no-one else had solved it :)
The only pic I have is of a beer label from the beer we were drinking there, oops! At least it was an Egyptian beer, though it's a little pricey here.
