It stands in the middle of Cairo its about 185 meters high. if your a nonegyptian person youll only pay about32 egyptian pounds as a ticket to enter, while kids under 6 years old are for free. the thing that may bother you is that if you have a video camera you must pay for it as well :p The tower has a revolving restaurnt which can be included to your ticket if you wish to dine there....then the ticket will be 40 egyptian pounds instead of 32 anyhow if u want to see all Egypt u must visit cairo tower, and ive attached about 3 photos for it by the way i can see it from my room window...oh lucky me;) Leave a Comment

The cairo Gezirah Tower is a site that many tourists visit. It's one of the highest buildings in downtown cairo and overlooks many parts. I will not write about the usual touristic points but will rather go to another interesting point. The tower was used in the 60's as a communication tower and it was an American grant that was directed by the government to this result. Leave a Comment

Located in the Gezira Island, this early '60s tower was built as a symbol of Nasserite Egypt, and has since become an important monument in Cairo. The top of the tower offers amazing views of Cairo and the Nile. During my visit in April 2007, the Tower was in the process of being enveloped in scaffolding in preparation for restoration work.

Cairo tower is really a must if you want to have an impression of the enormous city of Cairo, the city of almost 20 million people. Either by day or night the views are stunning and it is very relaxing to have something to eat and/or drink in the rotating restaurant and watch Cairo alive beneath you. This is a picture of Cairo by night. With courtisy to my friend Diaa Khalil. Leave a Comment

Looking at the map you see that the Pyramides are very close to the Cairo Tower and normally you probably go up in the hope to see a spectacular panorama. When I went up there was blue sky, no cloud on it and - most important - quite a strong wind which made me hope that it could blow the smog away to enable me to see the nearby Pyramides from there. But it looked like on the picture, no hope to see the Pyramides Leave a Comment

You take the elevator and you go up. You find yourself in a coffee/restaurant going round and round really slowly (I mention this as a "Pro"), giving you superb views of El Gezirah Island, Nile and Cairo. Beware of the sun. Because the tower is turning, you might find yourself under the sun without noticing it. Make sure you use the curtains wisely - I found myself sunstroke in March and I only realized it when I returned to my hotel. I spent a beautiful afternoon in the Cairo Tower but the evening was bad. :( I certainly recommend one visit to the Cairo tower, especially during sunset. The best photos ever.

The Cairo Tower is situated in Zamalek district on Gezira Island in the Nile River of Cairo city centre. It looks like an ordinary free-standing structure during the day. The best time to visit the tower is when the sun set because it is the time when the lights all around starts twinkling. Although I have seen the tower at night with its purple-light colours, I did not have the chance to take a photo of this beautiful scene. The Cairo tower is designed like a latticework tube and is like a lotus plant that fans out slightly on the top where you will find the observation deck and a restaurant.

If you're claustorphobic the elevator ride up and down this tower may bee somewhat difficult..since you're crammed into an elevator with 6 zillion other people, and all you can do is lift your head up and take deep breaths, and hope to god that no one's towering over you lol (yes, Im a bit afraid of tight spaces)...but you reach the top..if its a clear day (without too much pollution) you will get a full view of Cairo, the nile, the hotels on the banks of the nile, and you can tell certain landmarks, and walk around the tower and see the view from all directions. We went there at sunset, and so we also got a nice view of the city lights at night. You have the option of having dinner in the tower's restaurant, or to be served a drink and some cake...but that's not really what you're there for. Just enjoy the view and take some good pics.
