Make sure you time your visit to the Cairo Tower just right. If you want to see the pyramids make sure you get there after the fog/smog has burned off a bit and before the wind ruins your time up there.
If you can time it just right you'll enjoy 360 degree views of Cairo from the tower located in Zemalak. There is also a revolving restaurant and cafe you can visit for a fee. 100 EGP for the restaurant and 60 EGP to have a beverage at the Cafe.
The tower is open from 0900 until an hour after midnight.

You take the elevator and you go up. You find yourself in a coffee/restaurant going round and round really slowly (I mention this as a "Pro"), giving you superb views of El Gezirah Island, Nile and Cairo.
Beware of the sun. Because the tower is turning, you might find yourself under the sun without noticing it. Make sure you use the curtains wisely - I found myself sunstroke in March and I only realized it when I returned to my hotel. I spent a beautiful afternoon in the Cairo Tower but the evening was bad. :(
I certainly recommend one visit to the Cairo tower, especially during sunset. The best photos ever.

You can get some nice views from the tower, but make sure you go on a clear day. If it's hazy outside, you won't be able to see the pyramids. Also, the elevator operator will tell you some information and then ask for money. Other than the view, there is really not much to see here. If you have a good view from your room in your hotel, I wouldn't give this destination a high priority. There is construction going on right now so you cannot get a full 360 degree walk up top.

The Tower is 185 metres high, completed in 1961. Legend has it that Nasser used the money given to him by the Americans to buy American arms to build this 'wickerwork tube'.
Great views from the top (if its a clear day), but one of the best places to see it (and the sunset) is from the terrace bar of the Marriot Hotel on the east bank of the Nile.

Located on The Island in the Nile, the Cairo Tower has an observatory from where the views of the river and the tall buildings of the city centre are exceptional, in particular before the sun sets.

It stands in the middle of Cairo
its about 185 meters high.
if your a nonegyptian person youll only pay about32 egyptian pounds as a ticket to enter, while kids under 6 years old are for free.
the thing that may bother you is that if you have a video camera you must pay for it as well :p
The tower has a revolving restaurnt which can be included to your ticket if you wish to dine there....then the ticket will be 40 egyptian pounds instead of 32
anyhow if u want to see all Egypt u must visit cairo tower, and ive attached about 3 photos for it
by the way i can see it from my room window...oh lucky me;)

If you're claustorphobic the elevator ride up and down this tower may bee somewhat difficult..since you're crammed into an elevator with 6 zillion other people, and all you can do is lift your head up and take deep breaths, and hope to god that no one's towering over you lol (yes, Im a bit afraid of tight spaces)...but you reach the top..if its a clear day (without too much pollution) you will get a full view of Cairo, the nile, the hotels on the banks of the nile, and you can tell certain landmarks, and walk around the tower and see the view from all directions.
We went there at sunset, and so we also got a nice view of the city lights at night. You have the option of having dinner in the tower's restaurant, or to be served a drink and some cake...but that's not really what you're there for. Just enjoy the view and take some good pics.
