Looking at the map you see that the Pyramides are very close to the Cairo Tower and normally you probably go up in the hope to see a spectacular panorama. When I went up there was blue sky, no cloud on it and - most important - quite a strong wind which made me hope that it could blow the smog away to enable me to see the nearby Pyramides from there. But it looked like on the picture, no hope to see the Pyramides

Completed in 1961 on a small island, Cairo tower by the Nile is the most prominent landmark of Cairo city and if you feel like you can go up and have a panoramic view of Cairo. During evening it makes a good compliment of the view of the Nile with boats with different shades of light.

The cairo Gezirah Tower is a site that many tourists visit. It's one of the highest buildings in downtown cairo and overlooks many parts.
I will not write about the usual touristic points but will rather go to another interesting point. The tower was used in the 60's as a communication tower and it was an American grant that was directed by the government to this result.

Cairo tower is really a must if you want to have an impression of the enormous city of Cairo, the city of almost 20 million people. Either by day or night the views are stunning and it is very relaxing to have something to eat and/or drink in the rotating restaurant and watch Cairo alive beneath you.
This is a picture of Cairo by night. With courtisy to my friend Diaa Khalil.

Inside the 185 meter tower there is a revolving restaurant at the top, for a cheaper option there is also a cafe with the same views.
Viewing hours for the tower is 9am to Midnight. I can not remember exactly how much it was to get in, about 5.00 Egyption pounds I think, Well worth it.

This is a great place to come and see Cairo from 360 dgrees. It doesn't take a lot to see that the city sprawls out as it does. It can also be very pleasant at night if you can't make it during the day. On most clear days you can see the Giza plateau and the Pyramids on one side and the Citadel to the other. The cafe on top is not bad and try the Lebanese restaurant to the right as you enter the complex. Their food is good and service is great. Though at "tourist" prices.

It is well worth climbing up the Cairo Tower in time for Sunset to admire the views over the city. The views from the Tower are in one of my Cairo travelogues.
Don't bother with the rip off restaurant at the top though!

This is Cairo`s tower,it was bulit in 1961.It stands in the middle of Cairo, over looking the city from 185 meters high.
WE bought the tickets at the gate.It is 32 egyptian pounds for non -Egyptians,kids under 6 are for free.Video camera`s must have a ticket as well :-S.
The tower has a revolving restaurnt which can be included to your ticket if you wish to dine there, the ticket will be 40 egyptian pounds( about 7.5 US dollars).
The best thing to me was to be able to see the Giza pyramids and the Sakara pyramids from the tower,it was an amazing view!!!!!!!!
