Cairo Tower is a structure that stands on an island in the middle of the Nile and that offers a fantastic view on the city. The price to get to the top is higher for foreigners than Egyptains, about 20 Egyptain pounds, but is definitely worth it.

If you happen to be in the wonderful city of Cairo, don't miss the Cairo Tower, at El-Gezira area, an island on the river Nile. It's 187 m high (like 60 story building!), and 50 m higher than the pyramids at Giza plateau. The base was built from rosy finished Aswan granite, the same stones of obelisks and temples of the pharaos. There is a WONDERFUL, spectacular and unforgettable view from the top of the tower to entire city, it is especially lovely at dusk, when first light begin to appear (se my Cairo Home Page for that view). There is a telescope, rotating restaurant and a cafeteria. The waitors are dressed like ancient Egyptians. It is the best place to have entire Cairo on your palm.

It's a huge modern creation overloking the city. A real must for any lover of panoramas and aerial photography. When the day is good you will get a glimose of virtually every corner of the Nile Delta, including the famous Pyramids of Giza. Come by night and you will see all the lights of Cairo below you. For those who like to drink a cup of coffee from time to time: the restaurant at the top is excellent.

At 187 meters high, the Borg al Qahira or Cairo tower gives a great view over downtown Cairo. It costs 50 Egyptian lbs to go up there.

As with much of Cairo, in mild disrepair. The pollution-limited view is unique, though.
