    It's on Mokatam hight, and Mohamed Ali Mosque appear so clear with it's silver dome

    includes a lot of museum inside reflect our modern histor from Salah El-Din until King Farouk "last king of Egypt" after 1952 revolution Egypt become Republic

    Mosque of Sultan Hassan on the left of the photo was built in 1363 AD. It is believed stone from the Pyramids at Giza were used in the Mosques construction. The building has not always been a Mosque it was originally a theological school.

    Mosque of Al Rifai on the right is a 19th centuary Mosque. Members of the Egyptian royal family are buried here as is the Shar of Iran.

    The dusty and seemingly ramshackle buildings in Islamic Cairo fan on for miles. This was actually the Cairo I was expecting to find here not the one mentioned on my Intro Page

    Alabaster Mosque

    Located in the enclosure of the citadel of Cairo, the mosque, surmounted by a cupola with pendentive, is entirely covered with alabaster of Beni Suef, which is worth its name of 'Alabaster Mosque'. The mosque contains the tomb of the viceroy Mehemet-Ali who reigned on Egypt from 1805 to 1849.

    As Islam religion prohibits representing of people or animals, wall in the mosque are decorated some other paintings. Most of them are texts from Koran written in calligraphy.

    Entering in the Citadel coast 20 Egyptian Pounds (7 Egyptian Pounds = 1 Euro). It is seven Egyptian Pounds for one Euro. It includes visiting of all sights there.

    There are two things you must see in the Citadel. The first one is Alabaster Mosque. The second one is building where were described life of Farouk, the last Egyptian king.

    See the Mosque of Mohamed Ali in the Citadel of Saladin. The Citadel, a hilltop fortress, was the residence of Egypt's rulers from the 12th to the 19 centuries. The Mosque was constructed between 1830 and 1848.
