    I don't remember the names of those mosques. As I remember well, they are initiated to two sisters or something like that. Anyway, they look great. Ask your tourist guide about them.

    An interesting mosque up at the citadel. The ceilings inside are beautiful and it also has some gorgeous chandeliers. See more pics in travelogue.

    This is the view over Cairo from the Gawhara Terrace at the previous mentioned mosque. It was also the first time I saw the pyramids which were visible in the distance. You can't see them in the pic though because of the haze.

    Visit The Mohammed Ali Mosque at the citadel. The Citadel is a huge fortress-like structure on the edge of Cairo that provides a great panoramic view of Cairo, built and enhanced for 700 years starting in 1100AD. The main tourist attraction is the huge Mosque de Mohammed Ali.

    Home to various rulers of Egypt in the more recent past, the Citadel is perched on a top of a hill in Islamic Cairo and surrounded by thick walls. Most prominent feature of the Citadel is alabaster mosque of Mohammed Ali (on the pic). From the platform in front of the mosque there are great views of Cairo.

    visit Mohammed Ali Mosque in the Citadel. This Ottoman-era mosque is as splendid as any you'll find in Turkey. After taking your shoes off at the entrance, wander around the carpeted interior and marvel at the alabaster, the wood, and the splendid inlays. Please see the travelogue for more detail.
