Before entering the mosque, in fact before stepping into its courtyard, you should take off your shoes and carry them in your hands.
The inside of the Mosque is as impressive as the outside. Observe and admire the dome and Arabic inscriptions, take a look at the place from which an imam leads his prayers...
The alabaster Mohammed Ali Mosque's 1 of Cairo's landmarks and a must-see. It was built in the Citadel in 1824.
Everything about it it so impressive!
In the centre of the great courtyard is this fountain where people wash their feet and leave their shoes
This wonderful courtyard makes you feel so small and the slabs in the marble floor are freezing on stockinged feet first thing in the morning
We also saw the Mohammed Ali mosque that appears on the Egyptian pound. It is HUGE. We also visited the old Aqueducts and the City of the Dead.
