You can rent a small boat for about 20 Egyptian pounds for half an hour ride...or you can ride with other local people for about 2 Egyptian pounds.
The boat that we hired was located infront of the Hilton ramasis hotel.
Thank God for the Nile River, otherwise, Cairo would be claustrophobic. The longest river in the world still flows through the city and creates a calming effect. The feluccas, though not as many as in Aswan, can still be seen sailing past, but most of the vessels along the river are now these huge entertainment boats that serve as loud discos, belly dancing nightclubs, and/or plush, meaning, expensive, restaurants. You can leisurely stroll on the banks of the river or cross the bridges to visit the beautiful well-maintained parklands in the islands of the Nile. Most of the areas around the river are fairly upmarket, so you can visit some of the posh hotels or resaturants overlooking the river and get some cool refreshments.
Something you can't miss - a night cruise on the Nile. And don't go to the organized tourist toor, it is too artificial. Take the boat with natives, one of the small Egyptian boats that are situated all over, along the river. They are colourful boats with colourful pillows, carpets, lights, Egyptian music...
It is an unforgettable ride!
Admire the nile, walk around its river side specially at giza and doqqi sides and enjoy the scene of people and lovers walking around, and take a boat to cross from the university to Maspero and the Gezira Island.
Take a half day tour on a boat in the Nile river. Make sure to the see the boat you're booking on as they differ in their status and service offered and cruise price is not an indicator of how good they are.
This should be an easy one .. get a view of The River at night ...
There are some great lighting effects and it's very tranquil... look out for cafes nearby. Good place to site with a beer and good photo opportunities.
It is beautiful to stroll along the corniche of the river day time and at night. (see pics at night)

Walk along the Nile. It's the reason of Egypt's existence, and even though it's dirty and smelly, it's still an impressive stream!
The charming Nile and Cairo down town by night are wonderful you can have a Nile cruise to enjoy the nile beauty and the largest city ever in Africa and the middle east.
