 | | | | River Nile: River Al-Nil - A beauty | | | | | |
One of my fondest memories is strolling across the Nile bridges in the city that never sleeps, and watching the young egyptian lovers, hand in hand, just before the sunsets. The Nile is the lifeline of egypt, economically, strategically, historically and environmentally, but more than that is just how dear the nile is to egyptians. I walked through much of egypt, especially along the nile, and will remember at night seeing the city lights reflecting off the water, as the small boat barges and rough looking boats painted colourfully with home-made tarps covering, fans running, the egyptian music blowing the speakers blaring across the nile the fervantly passionate egyptian music. Stark contrasts of Marriot and Sheraton towers on the street where ghetto taxis commute. Its a sight to see. Leave a Comment

Thank God for the Nile River, otherwise, Cairo would be claustrophobic. The longest river in the world still flows through the city and creates a calming effect. The feluccas, though not as many as in Aswan, can still be seen sailing past, but most of the vessels along the river are now these huge entertainment boats that serve as loud discos, belly dancing nightclubs, and/or plush, meaning, expensive, restaurants. You can leisurely stroll on the banks of the river or cross the bridges to visit the beautiful well-maintained parklands in the islands of the Nile. Most of the areas around the river are fairly upmarket, so you can visit some of the posh hotels or resaturants overlooking the river and get some cool refreshments.
