After searching for books, the coffeeshop is a nice place to relax and have a coffee and pastry. It is quiet, and usually most of the tables are occupied. The food is a bit expensive, but nice to have a treat from time to time.
Favorite Dish: The coffee and the hot chocolate are both up to standard.

My friend went with us to this hotel on many occasions, and then I started taking special guests. It is expensive and there can be quite a long wait to be served and for the food to arrive. However, the gardens are wonderful and the tables are shaded from the sun.
The weekends are particularly busy when the elite descend with their families to see and be seen.
The Hotel itself was once the Khedive's Palace where he entertained Princess Eugenie . The pink palace has wonderful reception rooms with murals of the opening of the Suez Canal, and of the princess.
Favorite Dish: I can't remember which was my favourite, but all were good. Sometimes we would just order a drink and consume sandwiches from the Marriott Bakery to save money.

I visited this Deli in 2002 with a friend who had been living in Cairo for many years. She thoroughly recommended it. Although the restaurant itself was not particularly memorable for its decor, the food was. We shared a regular pizza which cost about £Egyp. 20 at that time.
It is open 24 hours. Breakfast is served until 11am.
Favorite Dish: Pizza

It is the famous American chain.
This restaurant is located on the Nile City mooring boat.
It has two levels, both levels has a Nile view.
The place is very child friendly(as every place in Cairo).
There are four branhes of Chili`s in Cairo, but the one located on the Nile is my personal favorite.
Favorite Dish: Almost everything on the menu is good,,but my favorite is the crispy chicken salad. and for the dessert it`s either the chocolate molton(it`s a choclate cake served with vanilla ice cream)or the apple pie, also served with icecream.

In all of the times I came to Cairo and passed this place it never accured to me it has the most amazing&delicous pizza.
The place is renovated, which allows you to see your pizza being prepared. The high chairs and tables makes a very unique atmosphere.Walls are painted with a dark green color which is the restaurant`s theme colour.
Written on the sign that is was established in 1922.
Favorite Dish: The Thomas restaurant serves more than 20 kinds of pizzas some are vegetarian and some are with pork and ham,,something you will not find everywhere in Cairo or Zamalek.

Feels that you are walking through a time machine when you enter this place,it takes you back in history at the time of the pashas,it`s very cosy.
It also has a bar serving Alcohol beverages.
It opens for lunch and dinner.
Kids are not allowed after 7 p.m,it serves the Shisha(water pipe)
To me,,going to Cairo and not dining here,is like going to Egypt and not seeing the Pyramids ;-)
Favorite Dish: This restuarant is famous for it`s (molokheyyah) dish,,it`s a green leaf vegetable cooked with lots of garlic and onions(it`s called ta`liyyah the combination of onion and garlic)and chicken stock, served with white rice.
This is a very famous dish in Egypt,,it also can be cooked with meat stock or even rabbits in some places.
