About half way through the Suez Canal one can see on the East side various monuments that remember the Israeli Egyptian war. During the time of the Israeli occupation of the Sinai the Suez Canal was the border between the two countries.

Nothing much to do in Suez except watch the ships go in and out of the Canal. Red Sea resorts are further south and the route to the Sinai is further north.
