A police patrol joined our bus on our way to Belbeis and accompanied us from there to Mostorod and Al Matariyah.
It was quite a discreet presence and, although many of us remarked the man with the gun, which you can also see in my picture, we still didn't feel their presence as something to scare us, as in Egypt you became quite familiar with the police patrols that are all over the places.
We've been told that this is a mandatory protections measure for tourist visiting the Christian sites located in particular Muslim areas, but there was no problem as the local people seemed to be particularly friendly.
