The Galabaya party on the first evening on board of the Nile cruise ship was one of the real highlights. Galabaya is the traditional costume that many Egyptians still wear and can be bought either from the bazaar or directly on the ship. Actually on some ships the galabaya can be also rented only for the party, but as far as I heard the price is close to the one that you pay for a new one. The prices are according to the fabric and the quality of work and sometimes on the ship you can find even lower prices than the ones in the bazaar. For example, the average price for a normal galabaya on our ship was around EUR 7-8 but for a more original outfit you should also add the head kerchief. The makeup was included in the price of the outfit. After some funny dancing contests on Egyptian music that involved almost all the tourists on the ship, we finished dancing until 2 o'clock in the night on disco music. So don't miss this party! Galabaya Evening by Myndo You may have seen pictures of that Event on other pages.... Well, the Galabaya evening is the one evening on board of a Nile Cruise Ship, when you go and try to dress like an Egyptian... meaning: you buy one of these long dresses that look like a night gown. Most of them are also heavily decorated (which the normal Egyptian would not wear, I think). But don´t worry, they are very cheap. You can either buy them on board or on one of your excursions or wait to the lock of Edfu and the vendors will come right to the ship in their tiny boats.
Galabayas, Belly dancers scarves, whatever looks Egyptian.... Leave a Comment Theme: Other

by edinka Best nightlife tip for Luxor is to catch a caleche and look around at the city how people living there enjoy their lives. A caleche is easy to be found. Surley, if they see you looking around they will catch you and start to bargain with you. If you jut tell them you want to see around in the city, surely they will take you to "their friends" who want to sell you some local stuff like papyrus or jewellery. Ali giving dancing lessons by travelinxs If it's nightlife you're after you might be better off travelling over to Rhodes for a week. Most make their own entertainment. However, some of the hotels have nightclubs of sorts. We teamed up with a Maroccan friend Ali and hit a hotel club near Ramsis Square. We doubled the guest list. But we had a laugh!! Be careful of any tab you might run. Be sure you are certain of the prices. Alcohol may not be available even at some tourist spots during Ramadam. Leave a Comment Theme: Nightclub

Night in Egypt... by Sweetberry1 Unfortunately I was a little young for any kind of nightlife, at that time.. but I am sure there are lots of fantastic places, that would be very enjoyable. Just seeing the city lit up at night, is enough to make me want to be there. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: Anywhere in Egypt would be great.

"The Place" is located in Zamalek, near Sheraton El Gezirah, and has a magnificent view of the Nile. The restaurant, similar to a boat anchored on the Nile's shore, is on three levels and live music is played on the top terrace. We went there twice and different bands were singing both Egyptian and international music: the first night was a "Latino" night and the second one was a "French" night. Anyway the bands were both good and we had a lot of fun and danced a lot. For an enjoyable and dancing night out it's a good choice. Theme: NightclubAddress: Beside Sheraton El GezirahPhone: 7361111

Sunset over the Nile by Vintom With the right conditions and the inclination to do it, what could be better than watching the sun set over the Nile. Why not even take a sunset Felluca ride and experience one of the nicest ways to view a sunset. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: All along the Nile at Aswan
