On the cruise boat: Egyptian evening on the boat

by Ervee

You can rent or buy egyptian cloths. Egyptian people try to sell you the cloths, sailing very close to the cruise both an throwing the cloths at you. You should bargain the price. It's cheaper to buy one than to rent one on the cruise boat.

Cairo is even livelier at night.

by imdreams

Cairo is even livelier at night than it is during the day, and the Cairenes have always known how to enjoy themselves. As the sun goes down, the people come out. Shopping, socialising and drinking coffee all need to take place before the serious business of eating, drinking, dancing and music begins. The fun goes on for as long as you can stand the pace and even at 0300 or 0400 when most places wind down, you will still find some that are open 24 hours. Wednesdays and Thursdays are the days for the big nights out. Although Egypt is a Muslim country, and many Cairenes will enjoy themselves all night long by only drinking soft drinks, alcohol is not difficult to come by for those who want it. . There are plenty of nightlife options. Most basic are the baladi bars, often called cafeterias to disguise the fact that they are selling alcohol. They are perfectly safe if a little rough, and...

Great memories

by rachel_sun

Here are some friends i made on the cruise.Other nights, the entertainment was just as good. One night we had a disco, another night we had a treasure hunt.Another night,we had a cocktail night. The treasure hunt was good as they told us 5 items to get and first team back with them won.Stuff like ladies knickers,a spoon etc.

by rachel_sun

Here is Gordon,a friend i made during the cruise. He dressed as a lady and was very funny. He told everyone he was not coming along and at the last minute, burst into the room and done a bellydance.Everyone was in fits of laughter. I will always remember this night as long as i live,it was brilliant.

Cleopatra

by rachel_sun

When i first heard there was a fancy dress,i thought ohh no.But it was a great night. We had a buffet two hours after dinner and drinks and a comp for best costume. We then had a disco all still dressed up.Earlier in the evening,a cruise ship passed us and i had my wig on,i waved to this bloke with it on.He shouted, see you later and i said"yeaaaa you gonna swim "? Later that night during the disco, the bloke came onto the boat,i blushed, and then i danced with him...;-)

Lets party

by rachel_sun

Here i am on fancy dress night. The cruise ship staff arranged lots of great nights. It was all done very well indeed. We hired a custome onboard the ship.We both went as Cleopatra as it was all that was left.It was a great night. We all had to dress up.Some men dressed as ladies. This cruise is one of the best holidays ive ever been on as it makes you get involved with fellow passengers and make friends. As im quite shy,,it helped me alot.

belly dancing.

by rachel_sun

The nightlife on the cruise was wonderful. One night,we had a fancy dress and another night we had a disco. There was also a belly dancer and a treasure hunt night. The friends we had made and my mum and i decided to go to the local market one night in Luxor. We all linked arms and walked down to the market. We got endless people hastling us to go into their shop or restuarants and people wanting to be our guides. The best thing to do is take a guide, then he will just get rid of the hastle and show us the way.We got a young boy as a guide and just gave him a small tip at the end.

Tutotel and Sinouhe: Get in and relax

by teija

If you want to see somekind of nightlife in Luxor Tutotel and Sinouhe are the 2 places which are popular among locals and also tourists. Never seen guys dancing so much especially when DJ is playing Egyptian music. In Tutotel there is usually belly dancer's show and you can see local men sitting with their cola drink and relaxing after hard day at work. For women it seems to be easy to find company from there but be careful with these charming guys. They already have loads of girlfriends and they love flirting.Drinks and beer are expensive everywhere in Luxor. When the bill comes you should check it line by line because they may test if you are willing to pay little bit extra... You can wear what ever you want inside the nightclub but take something to cover yourself when you leave.

Alcohol???

by Hatschepsut

You get nearly everywehre (not in egyptian Coffee-Shops) only Stella-Beer for alcoholic drink.Other alcoholic drinks are very expensive ( if you get one). But belive us. You don't need. Try the juices like Mango, Strawberry, Sachleb, Lemon......But if you really need more than beer: You can go with your ticket 24 hours after your arrival to the Duty-Free-Pyramide in Downtown and buy enough for your holiday.

Tip Photo
Everywhere: Coffee-Shops night and day

by Hatschepsut

The coffee-shops are open around the clock. You can sit there the whole night and smoke waterpipe: Shisha (for all who don't know: No drugs) and drink coffee, tea or juices. In the typical egyptian coffee-shops you cannot find alcoholic drinks, but try the juices: strawberry, mango, orange, lemon, sachleb..... I am sure you will like them.
