The bars kept running out of glasses and you didn't get the correct size glass for the drink ordered
Favorite Dish: The food and snacks are good and the waiter service excellent :-) Hold on to your glass if you get one? It might be an idea to take some sort of beaker to get a decent drink or get them to order in more glasses !

The only restaurant in Luxor with amazing views over the Nile to the West Bank. Choose from the International cuisine including Steaks cooked to your liking, chicken dishes and the choice of seafood dishes including seabass grilled fillets, Whole fish, Prawns and much more. No holiday is complete without a visit to PIRATES located by the entrance to the Sheraton Hotel. We had a very memorable evening. The staff were fantastic.
Favorite Dish: The grilled Prawns were to die for never tasted anything so good, fresh tasting and certainly the right choice to make.Would definately go back on our next visit to Luxor.

Tutankhamun Restaurant is located in El Gezira village on the West Bank of Luxor. It is very easy to find. From the local ferry dock, hang a left and walk straight ahead along the road that hugs the Nile for about 2mins. You will see the sign. It is the best food I have ever had in Luxor, barnone. I do not say this lightly. From their tahina salad, to their vegetables, to their rice, warm Egyptian bread, vegetable and meat dishes, they are culinary excellence. Their chicken curry is out of this world. The chef adds sweet banana and it brings a whole new flavor that is unlike anything I've ever had. Their fish tagine is incredible. We hosted a group of 8 for a felucca lunch and they actually delayed the sail because the fish tagine was going to take a few more minutes. It is THAT good. The chicken roast is really good as are the various vegetable stews.
Tutankhamun is great for take-aways. If you're staying at a nearby flat, you can take the food out in dishes on a tray (covered with foil) and then take the dishes and cutlery back at a later time (I usually wash the dishes). However, from their restaurant, you are afforded beautiful views of the Nile. All of this at extremely reasonable prices and very generous portions! You really can't go wrong with Tutankhamun.
Favorite Dish: Fish Tagine - Indescribable.

Snack Time is located next door to the McDonald's on Karnak Street in Luxor. It serves up hot, juicy hamburgers, french fries, various paninis and salads, pizza and a wide array of desserts and ice cream. Lots of different sodas, juices, cappuccinos, hot chocolate and teas are availble as well. The food is always hot, fresh and delicious. With all this tasty goodness there for the taking, I've never felt the need to set foot in McDonald's.
There are a few seats downstairs in the main area but the real draw is the seating area on the floor above, complete with a balcony overlooking Luxor Temple. It is especially fun at night when the temple is lit up and the families are out and about in the new square. It's an amazing window to the world of Egyptian life. You place your order downstairs, and an employee brings the food up to you. There is an elevator available for use and free wi-fi. There are usually Egyptians there tapping away on their laptops. If you're a non-smoker, the balcony may be difficult but if not, the balcony is prime real estate and fills up fast (there are only about 5 tables).
On the 4th Floor is 'The Roof' which is a more formal, beautiful decorated Egyptian restaurant. The view from there is nothing short of spectacular.
Favorite Dish: Hamburger and French Fries - Huge burger and very fresh.

It's the newest addition to Cairo's Zamalek Area - Nawab - an Indian restaurant that serves authentic Indian/Mughlai dishes - both vegetarian and non-vegetarian. From succulent kababs to mouth-watering desserts, from biriyani to balti. Run by an Indian couple who treat "each dish like their children" (American Chamber of Commerce review) it's a well priced restaurant. The menu has a lot of variety and each dish is explained in detail. Don't be in a hurry - as the chefs cook each dish with a lot of love and care - to maintain the original taste and flavor. DO visit it - it will be one brilliant meal when you are in Cairo!! In a review written by visitors from The American Chamber of Commerce (Egypt) they say - "At Nawab the food is the thing. It is easily one of the best Indian restaurants in Cairo." They also described the cooking as "Nawab's sauce is mysteriously delicious" and the service to be fantastic.
Attached are the scanned pics of the review by The American Chamber of Commerce.
Favorite Dish: The Mutton Balti - brilliant!! The kebabs - succulent!! The dal makhni is fantastic!!

Food is one of the most inexpensive things in Egypt, you can get lovely falafels, shawarma, sheesh tawouks (kebabs), etc. at most fast food joints as well as in sit down restaurants too. Stuffed vine leaves (with rice and meat) are a delight!!! The pita bread filled with hummus, tahina and salads of different kinds along with the small fried falafels is something really nice to have for a quick bite. All kinds of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are available in Egypt. Try the Hibiscus tea for starters, it's heavenly!!!
Favorite Dish: The pita bread filled with hummus, tahina and salads of different kinds along with the small fried falafels is something really nice to have for a quick bite. Cheapest and quickest fast food you can get in all of Egypt!!!
Shawarma is diced chunks of chicken heated on a permanently rotating skewer which are then stuffed inside a pita bread with loads of pickled and fresh salads, hummus, tahina, etc. Tastes delicious and costs almost nothing!!!

Favorite Dish: The falafel at Felfala's is so juicy that it melts in your mouth. The takeaway falafel sandwich was delicious and only 1 L.E. (less than $0.25!). For sit-down they have a falafel platter as well which is just as delicious and paired with hummus and pita you have a full meal.
