Baskin Robins: Baskin Robins In Egypt!!!

by michaelxxx

When I was going around the Arcadia Mall in Cairo, I notice a very familiar sign that of "Baskin Robins". I jump for joy! I never expected a Baskin Robins in Cairo. The Baskin Robins in Egypt has the same flavors you'll see in western countries. But I did notice that the price of the double scoop(which is 14L.E.)was much higher in Egypt. The taste of the Ice cream ain't the same as in the western world, but yet its still good!So if your willing to spurge for one good afternoon treat, simply go to the arcadia mall andsatisfy your self with a good Baskin Robins Ice cream. The best dish in this Ice cream parlo is the double scoop(Any selection among 18 flavors)fudge, and to top it off with a nife bake waffle! This was sooo good! The hot waffle plus the chocolate fudge with your choice of ice cream will simply melt in your mouth! This will make your day much more enjoyable and satisfying!The...

Bon Apetite: Everyday Italian!

by michaelxxx

After days in Egypt my family kinda, well...got sick of the food, so we opted to try out the restaurant at the American University, which was atleast a 10-15minute walk from our hotel, was it worth the walk? You Bet!The restaurant was in style! It looked like we were not even in Egypt! The menu made me hungry and the prices were not to complain! 9L.E for a pasta Penne which was really filling! My brother had a Lasagna which was 15L.E and boy, was it delisious! If you want good food and a price which is acceptable to your budget, you should definitely land here, I swear, you will savor every bite! Among the dishes they served, my favorite was the Pasta Penne. I really savored every bite, and to make it better simply add a dash of lemon, a little bit of pepper and sprinkle some salt on it and mix it. When you put it in your mouth you will taste your wonderful mixture together with the...

Winter Palace (New Quarters) Restaurant: Be Treated Like Royalty Instead of Being Hassled!

by matt10gonzalez

Tired of being hassled in Luxor? Wondering where's a nice restaurant in Luxor where you can just pig out and at the same time, being in a classy and elegant atmosphere? Eat at the Winter Palace! No, not the old quarters (it's more expensive here.), the new quarters! (It's just connected to the old quarters, the elegant part of the Winter Palace.) Yes, for $3-$4 you can eat a delicious meal with beef and potatoes. Okay, it might crash your budget a bit, but it's still not a bad deal you know? (It's even more expensive in Manila and you can't find this deal in Europe!)Plus, who can't resist the ambience and peaceful lounge of the Winter Palace? (See Hotels and Accomodations for more info.) It's what makes Luxor nice, not hassling! The food here is better than the Old Cataract for not only me, but all of us in the family agreed. BROTHER: "The portions here are bigger."MOTHER: "Your money is...

Hard Rock Cafe: Cheap and good food

by 45mike

Not a quiet place but you get to eat in a busy and fun place for very little. It's really cheesy when the staff all go onto the floor and do their dance routine. This must be where Catherine Tate got her comedy sketch idea from. The veggie burger!

Biti's: Best Pizza in Aswan!

by matt10gonzalez

Well, it may not be Egyptian, but after traveling all over from Cairo to Aswan by a grueling 14 hr. train, (And the food inside the train- how can I describe it- we had no choice but to eat or starve?) who doesn't want Pizzas for a change?Well, Biti's can give you a decent taste of pizzas! Even I had to admit, they do a good, tasty and juicy copy of it here! For just 2 US (medium size pizza) to 3 US (Large pizza), it's not so bad!And it's just around the city plaza! So after filling your stomach with some pizza junk, (Sorry, but I don't think any kinds of pizza is healthy!) you can just stroll around the beautiful boulevard and burn off some fats!Besides, unlike Luxor, as of 2005, there's no Mc. Donalds here yet so Biti's not bad for a replacement!Costs: 2-3 US. (You can split 2 pizzas if you're 1 obese and 4 people.) (Unless you can all eat a single plate of large pizza!) Family's...

Old winter palace. Luxor: Dont miss this!!!!!!!!!!!

by Serenity_DK

Eating out - you must must go for an evening at the old winter palace at the centre of luxor, the food is 5 star plus, the service is five star plus, and the prices are on average for a 3 course meal plus wine £30.00 per head including wine, coffee and brandy, the most expensive thing was the wine you tend to find the wine very expensive in Luxor on average a bottle costs around £17, so if your not a wine drinker you will get a five star plus meal for around about £10.00, the hotel itself is all designed in the old colonial style, pianist plays in the bar area, and you have a guitarist playng while eating your dinner, there are two sittings for the 1886 restaurant 7pm and 9pm, we opted for the 7pm sitting and had the restaurant, guitarist, waiters etc all to ourself making it the most romatic, phenomenol meal we have ever shared together. the dress code at the old winter palace dinner...

Fast food even in Egypt: Miss american food? Don't worry...

by zanzooni

The funny thing in Egypt, fast food does not taste even remotely like it's American counterparts. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it's different. We had Pizza Hut deliver...Yup folks, they deliver. When you call them, their phone system not only gives them the address, but they even know what floor your on. Tipping is expected as well. We also had KFC once on our way back to Cairo from Alex. Don't expect the biscuits. I don't even think they know what a biscuit is come to think of it. I don't have favorite dishes from fast food. We bought it because it was fast, and mainly because Chelsea doesn't get to eat it. She had never had Pizza Hut before so we had it delivered. No pepperoni or sausage pizza's here folks. They put hot dogs on pizza though. Didn't really matter what we ordered as she smothers everything in catsup...yuck!
