Also known as Saladins fortress you can reach the island by taking a small boat from Taba Heights The entrance cost was 55 EGP and to be honest that is a fair amount of money for not much to see..however there are some amazing photo opportunities to be had

by KShezz

The monastary is the oldest continuously inhabited monastery in the World built on the site where Moses (Prophet Musa) talked to God via the Burning Bush, and the well of Moses which is actually an underground spring and visit the church and see the laarge collection of religious art which is amazing even for a non religious person (of course thay ask for an extra entrance fee to the gallery)I advise people to read up on this place before they go to enhance thier visit http://st-katherine.net/en/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=14&Itemid=29you really should make this trip if you can I will never forget it

Luxor

by croisbeauty

It was pretty big shock after stepping out from the well air-conditioned bus which took us from Hurghada to Luxor. Our tour-guide told us and aworned us to expect very hot day and extremelly high temperature but it was all beyond any resonable expectation. I was in Sahara desert, under 55C degrees, but never before felt such a heat. The whole ground look alike burned from the sun, stone and dust all around and not a bit of any greenery. We were good advised to bring along at least one big bottle of water, it is a must here!%a*

Alexandria

by al2401

This is a fascinating city - typically Mediterranean yet typically Egypt. There is a lot to see here. The new library, built on the site of the ancient one has tours and is worth a visit if only for the architecture. There is Qaitbay Fort built right on the Mediterranean. The beaches are very popular and the Stanly bridge is amazing. You can't go without seeing the Roman Odeum and Catacombs. You are also close to Rosetta and not far from El Alamein.

Menphis

by solopes

Menphis is today only a memorial: an open air museum with an alabaster sphinx for the touristy photo, and an huge statue of Ramses II protected in an expressly build construction. In a fresh and well maintained garden, some other relics justify your trip, and differently from Cairo Museum, you can easily walk around and... breed.

Philae Temple

by solopes

I bought what seemed to be an excellent package (it was) but decided to demand some changes. It has been a perfect idea. In two weeks I joined four different groups, sharing their experiences but also seeing what they were missing. The changes were simple: reverse the cruise (Aswan-Luxor and not the opposite) and replace the long stay in Hurghada by Sharm-el-Sheik. That gave me the chance to save a flight, reaching the Red Sea by land and to profit some exclusive advantages. For instance, after the tour of Aswan, the guide found that we were the only costumers to have the Philae Temple in the program. So, while everybody else returned to the cruise ship, we and the guide entered a small boat that took us across the lake to that jewel that is the Philae Temple. The visit was quick and easy, but I wouldn't miss it for nothing. The protection of the tourists is carefully assured as discreetly...

St Katherine's Monastery

by solopes

Time is stopped in Saint Katherine's monastery, in Sinai. History and religion mix in an "impossible" place, in the middle of nowhere. Easy to reach from Sharm-el-Sheik by taxi, after enjoying the colors and textures of the desert, you are stuck by the impressive austerity of the site. Sacred for several religions towers and minarets stand side-by-side in the small space of the fortified complex. Costumes are carefully controlled and our pants were found unappropriated. The solution? - Wearing local clothes they gently supplied for a modest donation. I may go back there in August. I will not be surprised now!

We booked our trip with Vova Sharm Excursions which is located in the Old Town. We had a brilliant day from morning til night. A fun packed historical glimpse into life in ancient times. The pyramids were amazing, the museum, the sphinx, shopping and haggling with the shop owners was great. A must for all visitors to Egypt and please use this excursion company, They are everything they say, excellent value for money, great service and very informative
