Luxor and Karnak

by Kuznetsov_Sergey

Luxor is the small city located on the right bank of the Nile at the distance of 700 kilometers from Cairo. Now Luxor is a silent city, but in days of the New Empire it was the capital of Egypt and referred to Thebes. Numerous architectural monuments of Luxor are entered into the UNESCO List of the World Cultural Heritage. Two grandiose temples - Luxor's and Karnak's, the Valley of the Kings, two museums and many other interesting places attract thousand tourists. This chaos of crowds and terrible heat (even in April) were only unique troubles in this fine city. You may have a look on my Luxor VT-page and watch myLuxor-Karnak Temple SLIDE-Show on WebShot with 79 pics in original high quality size. Giza

by Kuznetsov_Sergey

Giza is a suburb of Cairo. It is located on the distance of 12 kilometers from the center. To get Giza it is necessary to cross the Nile across one of bridges and appear on the left bank. The well-known Pyramids have made Giza world renowned. Though I did not know that Giza is the big city enough. We lived in the hotel located in Giza. I could observe Pyramids from my window. It is impossible to come to Egypt and not to have a look at the Pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx! Cairo

by Kuznetsov_Sergey

Cairo is the largest city of Egypt and one of the largest cities of the world. Though on the area it concedes to Moscow twice, but by in a number of the population it surpasses Moscow almost twice. 18 million inhabitants in comparison with 10 million in Moscow have seemed impressing. The city is located mainly on the right east bank of the Nile near to the beginning of its delta. From two sides the city is clamped by deserted plateaus - Muqattam from the east and Giza from the West. Therefore the city strongly extends along the river. In the city there are two islands: Gezira and Roda. In comparison with clean and well-groomed European cities Cairo makes depressing impression. However owing to the sights it certainly deserves visiting by any person who is interested in history and culture of Egypt.Second photo: Egyptian Museum Building.Third photo: Old Cairo - Coptic Church.Forth photo:...

Alexandria

by Kuznetsov_Sergey

Alexandria is the second-largest city of Egypt (8 million of inhabitances). For Egyptians it means the same that for Russians S-Petersburg means. It is considered that the northern capital of Egypt was founded by Alexander the Great. The city has settled down a narrow strip along the Mediterranean Sea. Its beautiful recently updated quay has a length of 20 kilometers. The modern architecture makes Alexandria more similar to European cities though the atmosphere differs from other cities of Egypt a little. Alexandria involves tourists with the numerous sights which make this city a very attractive tourist center. I recommend visiting Alexandria necessarily, especially if you have already appeared in Cairo. It is located on the distance of 200 kilometers from the capital.Second photo: Royal Palace.Third photo: Library.Forth photo: Antique Theatre.Fifth photo: Fortress. You may watch my high...

Diving in the Blue Hole

by bouwmeester

It is an amazing experience. There were no paved roads out to the site when we visited, so you had to rent a land rover to get you out there. There is a great little restaurant at the site, along with a scuba and snorkel rental shop. When you dive in the water, there are such colourful fish... It's not something that I can really describe, let's just put it this way, if you're in the area...go check it out.

See the Giza Pyramids

by globalgirl33

a "must do" for any traveler going through Egypt. the pyramids were much larger than i thought there would be. it really felt amazing standing at the base of this enormous monument. i had a hot stroke or something like it. the Egyptian sun was hotter than life and i got so dizzy and everything around me went black then white, i almost feinted, thats why i recommend you keep water by your side at all times.

Be a local in Egypt!!!

by michaelxxx

After days in Egypt my family learned to love the ways of the Egyptians. Like how they party at night! (Cairo is a city that never sleeps!) The coffee they drink, and even the busses they take. We also learned some Egyptian words, such as Thank you, Hi and more. And believe me it was a blast!!!But before you could learn to be like a local, you must first “LOVE” and “FEEL" the country. A good example is my aunt. She really fell in love with Egypt that she claimed she would love it if the Egyptian Bedouins would kidnap her! (She’s crazy indeed!)But remember, don’t force yourself to be like a local at first sight on arrival. Learn to love and feel the atmosphere first. Once you are at home already, you may do what the locals do. You will not regret it at all!

The Alexandrian Library born again!

by katigo

The Alexandrian library i.e. Bibliotecha Alexandrina is a beautiful building literally rising from the Mediterranean sea. The building combines a huge library with materials ranging from ancient papyrus to modern science, and an archaelogical museum from which there's a view into the sea bottom where the ruins of the original Alexandrian library are...This is an architectural must!

It won't hurt to have a picture with the air crew!

by michaelxxx

On our way back from Egypt we rode Gulf Air via Bahrain from Cairo then to Manila (It was the cheapest fare we found! ) Me and my brother were seperated from my family in the plane, so we were many rows ahead of them, which means NO PARENTS on the watch!! The fun part begun 5hrs in the journey to Manila. Passengers were talking to us! Some thought it was just me and my brother travelling! Then soon a stewardess soon approaches us and starts talking to us! We told her our experiences in Egypt, about crossing the road kill streets of Egypt, The food and more! Soon she brought her other friend (Also a stewardess!) and we started to chat! Their names were sooo cute that until now I remember it, Kululi and Kebub! They said me and my brother were soo cute! It was a really nice moment for me and my brother! But the only thing I regret is not having a picture taken with them! SO REMEMBER, It...
