Luxur Mesium

by Bashir2005

One of the best displays of antiquities in Egypt is located at the Luxor Museum opened in 1975. Housed within a modern building, the collection is limited in the number of items, but they are beautifully displayed. The admission price is high, but it is well worth the visit. Visiting hours can be somewhat restricted, so find out upon arrival in Luxor. Upon entering the museum, there is a small giftshop on the right. Once inside the main museum area, two of the first items that catch one's attention are an enormous red granite head of Amenhotep III and the cow-goddess head from the tomb of Tutankhamun. Spaced out around the ground floor are masterpieces of wonderful sculptures. If you come to Luxor, this small museum is very charming.

St. Catherine's Monastery and hike up Mt. Sinai

by dln6874

The top of Mt. Sinai is where Moses is said to have received the 10 commandments. It's a pretty nice view up there. At the base of Mt. Sinai is the St. Catherine's Monastery where the burning bush was. The hike up is about 2.5-3 hrs with only the last bit being a little steep. Most people seem to do the sunrise, but we did the sunset, and that was nice too. Be sure to bring a torch tho, as it will (obviously) be dark after sunset and the trails will not be lit.

The Pyramids of Giza and Sphinx

by dln6874

The pyramids are one of the original 7 wonder of the world. Need I say more? There are three big ones still standing (and bunch of little ones) in one area. You can see them up close, and even go inside some of them. However, you can also get a panorama shot of all three. I think most tour operators will take you there too. That's where you can do longer camel rides and buy bunch of souvenirs.

The Sphinx

by mary2u99

This is the most fascinating monuments of ancient Egypt. Although it does show it is worn by time but it is still amazing. The Sphinx is 20 metres high and 60 metres long. The dimensions of the face are so large that the eyes themselves are 2 metres high.

Bedouin Evening

by gabriellefox

Once a week, the hotel holds an optional Bedouin night, offering the opportunity to sample the traditional cuisine of the Bedouin. This makes a lovely change from eating at the hotel restaurants although the catering is of the same high quality. Eating out under the stars and being entertained by belly dances and Egyptian Folklore dancers is great.

Visitors to the Underwater Observatory Marine Park in Eilat can experience the wonders of the Red Sea without having to dip so much as a finger in the water. The park offers a dazzling array of experiences. There's the Circular Reef Tank, which presents a sample of the rich assortment of species that live around a reef, then there's the Shark Pool, which holds 15 different types of shark. The Young Turtle Pool nurtures baby hawksbill turtles for release back into the wild, and is the first place in the world which has succeeded in breeding them in captivity. by gabriellefox

The Dolphin Reef, Eilat, on the shores of the Red Sea, is an ecological site unique in Israel and throughout the world where visitors can enjoy a natural atmosphere, magical views, secluded beach, together with the unusual opportunity of meeting and observing dolphins in their natural habitat. Is is just a short ride over the Israel Border from Taba Heights.A group of “bottlenose” dolphins, including babies born at the site, maintain their daily routine of hunting, playing, courting and socializing. They are free to choose between human company or to continue their daily routine in the group. Visitors can enjoy getting close to the dolphins from the floating piers and observation points or by taking a guided snorkel or dives, suitable to anyone who is not afraid of getting wet. All equipment can be hired and excellent staff are on hand to take you through step by step. Lockers, showers,...

Excursion to the Dead Sea Spa

by gabriellefox

The Dead Sea Spa is located on the shore of the Dead Sea about 45 kilometres south-west of Amman. It has a private beach and two swimming pools, with a sun-deck and sun loungers. There is a restaurant and a pool bar. In the spa therapists offer mud-pack and other skin and beauty treatments. There are also 2 small suphur pools which you can spend no more than 15 minutes in. After that shower and stroll down to the mud trough and cover yourself from head to toe, then take a walk down to the sea (about 10 mins) As you walk the sun starts to bake the mud which draws out many toxins. You can either choose to shower it off before getting into the sea or scrub it off in the sea. You get a salt water exfoliation at the same time and your skin feels silky and soft. The Dead Sea is the lowest point on earth and is renowned for its saline waters. It is a great place to relax either with a gentle...

Pyramids and Sphinx

by ollyf

These are every bit as amazing as you'd imagine. To stand by them and imagine how people without mechanised technology erected such enormous structures is just mind-blowing. Obviously you can get some wonderful photos too (unfortunately I lost mine, hence the lack of any on this page), but you won't have the place to yourself - far from it! I went in December, a relatively quiet month, and it was SWARMING with tourists and hawkers. You won't have a moment's peace, and a trip into the interior of Pyramid Three is a very hurried affair. Still, well worth seeing one of the Wonders of the World for yourself; photos alone cannot do them justice.
