do u take egypt airline to southafrica

by hebaemam

dear mam, im egyptian, and my honey moon was in southafrica and for sure i took egypt air. i was in business class, so i was so happy and comfortable with everthing in the flight. well, i have to be honest with you. 1-egypt air pilots are a very good one i believe. 2-hostess are good.3- food is very good i believe... egyptian food is not spicy as you might think. thats if you compared it to indian food for example. i would consider it moderte salty rather than spicy. 4- 2 years ago when took this airoplane, it wasnt brand new but it wasnt old too. generall speaking, egypt air line is not the best ,for sure emirates is better, but i dont think you will regret taking egypt air.egypt air company aiming to be top ranked companies, so i think they do take care of long flights.finally if i were in your place, since egyptair is not a bad airline i would take it and save the money difference and...

Overnight trains in Egypt

by stewarth99

If you catch the overnight train then you may be in for an experience never to be forgotten, or repeated. Most impotant - take any food or drink with you, if you buy them on the train you will regret it, or dine out on it for months. Essential supplies include water and toilet paper. No fear of the toilets being blocked here, they drop straight onto the tracks! The food on the train is EXPENSIVE and very poor quality. Watch out for the porter with his electric whizzer. He can make your instant coffee turn into a cappuccino! He's very proud of his little machine. When we travelled, we were woken up with a loud bang by a policeman/ticket inspector at about 3am checking tickets and passports. For a non-stop train a little officious and very aggravating as I'd only just got to sleep. We still have "happy" memories of that journey!

TRAINS AND BUSES IN EGYPT

by Trixcentrix

1) FROM CAIRO TO LUXOR -> ASWAN AREAS. ( $ 60 US per person / one way / Aswan and Luxor are of the same price. If you get off at Luxor, which is closer to Cairo, it is not any cheaper. You still pay $ 60 US ).The best mode of transportation is the Abela Sleeping Train ( now under the new company and management of El Watania ). The Abela Sleeping Train ticket booth is found at Mubarak station on the Metro Subway line. You can buy the tickets at the booth and they will refer you to a station to catch the train from. Usually the trains leave from El Giza or Ramses stations. The trains are clean, extremely comfortable ( seats turn into bunk beds with warm blankets, crisp cotton sheets and soft pillows ). Furthermore, it comes with breakfast and dinner ( food can be better - but then again, trains are not places where you can eat well ). The trip from Cairo to Luxor and then to Aswan...

Tours of Egypt

by TheAndos

We have just returned from 12 days in Egypt with Intrepid Travel. The best thing is that the group is only 12 people - sometimes there are one or two you don't warm to, but on this occasion we all got on well. We had Kiwis, Aussies, Canadian and American in the group. I would hate to go on a tour with a big coachload of people, we also got free time. Our guide, Walid, was exceptional.

Taxi to Memphis and Saqqara from Cairo

by aadil

We took a taxi from Cairo to Memphis and Saqqara and it cost us only 100 Egyptian Pounds for the return trip. The taxi driver also waited at all the points and we took quite some time at all the places we visited so it was quite cheap compared to what we had expected. We just took a regular black cab from the street and the driver was very nice and even though we could not communicate properly with him due to language differences he was very helpful and kind and not like most Egyptian drivers who would fleece customers. All in all a very good experience. A taxi from your hotel would definitely be a big rip off so don't even ask your hotel for one!!! Just go out on the street and stop any regular cab and ask him if he is willing to take you around for the day to both these places. We wanted to go to Dahshur too but did not have the time to do so.

Nile Cruise

by aadil

We had booked through a local travel company called Flash Tours and went on the Cheops III which is an Arabesque cruise ship with lovely wooden decorations all over the ship. It is a five star ship and the food is lovely especially since they also have an Indian food menu for Indians although I did not eat much of it preferring to have the local Egyptian and continental food that we don't get much in India!!! We did a four day cruise on the Nile from Luxor to Aswan which was a part of the eight day package all over Egypt so we did not have to pay separately for the cruise. It was well worth the price we paid for in Indian currency.

Cairo to Tel Aviv: Flight or car?

by jfcarli

For a rather long time I questioned myself how to do the Cairo-Tel Aviv trip. I initially thought of a bus service run by Israelis (it cost U$ 100.00 p/p - http://www.mazada.co.il). There were only two buses a week, we had to pay for the transportation from the hotel to bus station, and it would be pretty uncomfortable, considering the long journey. We then thought flying from Cairo to Tel Aviv. Cheapest would be US$ 400 p/p. Plus transfers to/from airports. We finally settled for a much more comfortable, much cheaper and much more pleasureable transpórtation:For 900.00 Egyption pounds (about US$ 140.00) my wife and I travelled in a comfortable car with two drivers (I still wonder why two of them?) from Cairo to Taba, on the Israeli border. We crossed the Sinai desert, passed under the Suez Canal, had a great trip and spent a lot less. From Eilat to Tel-Aviv we took a regular bus. Quite...

Taxi Cairo Airport to Giza

by jfcarli

The spent by a car from the Cairo airport to Giza is about one hour. If you arrive at the new airport terminal, look for the official cars. There is a chart with the going prices for several locations. The price we paid for a comfortable car, with air conditioning and a polite driver was 100 Egyptian pounds (slightly less than 20 US dollars). When we first arrived, we arrived at the old terminal, and we ended up paying 20 euros. Later on we found out this was way tooooo much.

Train Cairo to Alexandria

by jfcarli

The hotel "limousine service" (never saw a limo, just regular a/ cars) tried to push a day trip by car to Alexandria. Glad we did not accept. Contrary to the nightmarish trip from Cairo to Luxor, our trip to Alexandria by trains was very comfortable and most enjoyable. Just make sure you get a first class ticket. The train follows one of the Nile Delta's "fingers" and you can appreciate Egypt's agriculture, since all along you can see the small farmer's work.A trip a truly recommend.

Train Cairo to Luxor

by jfcarli

I enjoy travelling by train or bus during the day, in order to see how a country's interior looks like. When buying the ticket to Luxor, I thought I had bought the ticket for a day train. Upon arrival at the Ramses station about half an hour before what I thought was the train scheduled departure, I found out to my dismay that it only left at 10 p.m. Boarded the train. Expected a first class wagon. What a deception. Old, musty, smelly and terribly worn out. Upon questioning if it was really first class, I was assured so.There were six of us in a compartment and, unfortunately, the four egyptians who shared the space with us were truly excited about whatever they were discussing. Only after 04:am, when one of them left the train we did get the opportunity to rest a little. Summarizing: one of the worst experiences ever. I would definitely NOT recommend this train trip. Just fly. It's...
