Capri Cafe / Coffeehouse is a good place to get something to drink. It's cheaper here than the cafe's at Harnet avenue. And the local people meets here drink coffee or fresh pressed juice. The premises are big, but it doesn't look like that when you are standing outside. You can walk 25 meter inside the place. It is located in a side street of Harnet avenue.

The Pizza and Spaghetti house, opposite Opera House in Harnet avenue is a great place to eat. You can eat Italian- or American pizza, or other Italian specialities. The location is good, just in the beginning of Harnet avenue. Take a look at at the menu in the photos. (1 USD is 30 Nakfa in the black market)

There are some cafe's and bars in Harnet avenue. You can eat your sandwich and sit outside looking at people walking by. The most popular cafe's are American Bar, Cafe Moderna and Bar Impero.
Favorite Dish: Sandwich and fresh juice. (It could have been beer, but that was not available in Asmara in late December 2008.

Blue bird Restaurant - Eritrean Delicious Food
This restaurant is great. The restaurant is full even at noon in every day of the week.
Take a look at the first photo... the restaurant doesn't look appealing at all. The building is shabby, and the neon light doesn't invite customers. But the restaurant is quite different at the inside. And the food is good and cheap. You can eat traditional Eritrean food like f.ex injera or Italian food.
Favorite Dish: Eritrea is an old Italian colony. And the Eritreans make the Pizza, Pasta and Lasagna just as good as the Italians. Look at the meny in one of the photos and select the food. 1 USD is 30 Nakfa (in the black marked)

Very beautiful XIX Century building, restaured to its former glory, now hosts a poshy Italian restaurant with excellent original food in a very elegant cozy setting.
The perfect place for your VT meeting!
Favorite Dish: I had the excellent frutti di mare in a moment of nostalgia, whilst Johanna and Sam went for the superlative cannelloni.

Favorite Dish: Pizza Africana is the Eritrean version of the mexicana, with a spicy mince meat topping. Tee oom!

City Park cafe is located just below the president palace. It is located at the end of Semaetat avenue and the beginning of Harnet avenue. The cafe is average.
