i actually liked it. really hot, but it was fun. i remember when my girlfriend tried to talk to a shop owner, and i had to do hand signals for what ever she was saying. he finally understood when a man translated for him. it all happened because she told me to "ask for directions". pfft. what ever.

As burocracy is taking Eritrea ever harder into its grips, tourists need to get more and more special permits to do things in the country.
While the basic travel permit is free, getting permits to visit archeological sites, monasteries and the Dahlak Islands costs money and takes time!

if you rent a car to go from Asmara to Massawa, and return, and if you don't use the car cos you go to to the islands, you'll have to pay for the car in massawa, even if you don't use it...

massawa is ok but it is very hot you can't see any body at day time in the evening peoples they start to go out of thier homes
