This is the only orthodox church in this muslim city. It is located in the main square (Feres Magala) but it doesn't really deserve a special visit. If you have seen any other orthodox church in Ethiopia this has nothing remarkable.
This famous big house of Harar was built by an indian trader and it shows so in its facade's details. The name comes from the fact that Haile Selassie (the last emperor, formerly Ras Tafari) spent here his honeymoon.It is not open to the public now, but if you wanna visit it you can fall ill: a doctor lives here now and he claims to cure everything from diabetes to cance. The house itself deserves a visit. It is an old colonial house, all in wood, with fantastic stairs. There are periodical exhibitions inside. When I was there there were a series of old photos of Harar, when there were sultans and camel markets for the caravans.
Ironically, The building where is now the Rimbaud Museum, was not the house where he lived. Though some will tell you so, some others say he lived in a green house which is in the Main Square. Anyway, the house is nice, reminded me those of "swahili" style in Zanzibar and it was a good way to know a little more about the poet. There is not much about him exposed anyway, but a few pics, of him and taken by him, who was an amateur photographer can be seen in the upper floors.Curious about a poem of him, I asked the guard if I could read one of the books of the library and he let me sit there and use the books as I pleased. I guess not many visitors ask for the books, but they have there most of Rimbaud's work, both in french & english.Admission 5 Birr (5 cents of euro).
Another good reason for visiting the museum is the great views of the old city from the top. As it is located on a hill you can see all around the roofs and the maze of little streets.
