DO NOT PUT YOUR NAPKIN ON THE PLATE!

by DAO Updated Oct 30, 2011

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

After you have finished your meal you may, out of habit, place your napkin on your plate. Do not do it here! If there is any food left, the restaurant will give this to poor people after they close. If you put the napkin on it – they won’t. It is a really hard habit to break, but please remember to leave your napkin on the table when you finish.

    NO !

    Eating corn

by SirRichard Written Feb 16, 2007

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

If you arrive by bus, you will have the chance to see these girls selling corn at the stops. Many people buy it to have some pastime during the bus ride. It's a kind of roasted corn, hard.

    Table football

This is one of the few "western" games I saw children play here. It seemed to be very popular and tables were always in the streets, outside bars and cafes.

    Wash your hands before lunch

by SirRichard Written Feb 18, 2007

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

As eating with your fingers is the local custom in all Ethiopia, washing your hand before is a real must. All restaurants have a fountain/tap outside so you can wash your hands before/after lunch.
