Air

by Emmi

Air is the fastest way but the planes don't keep always their timetables. On a bad weather they don't fly at all. By car you see much more but it takes plenty of time because the roads are in a bad condition.

Addis - Bahir Dar

by mickybleck

There is a paved road from Addis to Bahir Dar now, so that you can get from one city to the other by minibus in one day. The big buses still need two days (via Debre Markos)

road signs

by cynaddis

although street signs have recently put up in and around Addis, nobody really uses these. try to familarize yourself with landmarks NOT street signs otherwise you will not make it around town!!

Mini Busses

by frockland

Mini busses either go on certain routes in the cities or cover shorter overland routes than busses do. They are faster with fixed rates (which are probably higher for Faranjis!)

Taxis

by frockland

In the bigger cities there are taxis available. Check about the price before getting into the cab and check if the given price is per person or per cab! Generally you should bargain!

Taxi

by mirosuomi

The taxi is the best way to travel around in cities, if you don't want to walk. They are quite cheap, but the taxi drivers always try to rip you off, so discuss about the price before you get in!
