Travel to Gamba and explore the beautiful beaches south and North there of...best to contact the WWF while in LBV for details. They have a tourist facility up at sette cama which accomodates tourists at reasonable prices..atke your fishing rod ! raincoat ..mosi nets. high SF creams and a camera...loads of elephants, some gorillas, and buffalo...Its wonderful.
South of Gamba yu can explore Nyanga, or cross the river at Mayonami and go down to mayumba,...it's all beautiful scenery...if travelling alone then best to go in dry season as less chance of getting stuck in deep water holes...best to have two cars or use a bush taxi who knows the routes well.

Hundreds of species of lianes grow in the rain forest; some of these plants are used for construction , as ropes, to tie-up luggage or making beds for the fly-camp, others can be used as medicine; myself I learned to recognise the one of which you can drink the water; once cut, the water flows quite rapidly and it has a good 'green" taste and of course does not need to be treated by some chemical to make it drinkable.
The other picture show differnt lianes of very big size; Oh I forgot the Tarzan liane with which you jump to cross the rivers or from one tree to the other YOOOIIIIYOOOOIIIIYOOOOOO

Of course all is off the beaten path here, only wild animals roam around, or ; . . creep along the path. . In the case of this 4m long python, (which ended in the cooking pot. . . ), it did not want to give way and the hunter had the last word. . You may also encounter other animals in the forest , but usually they hear you and disappear before you are able to see them. Ah, on third picture is a skin of another one I tried to keep but I had not the right tools and material to prepare it and after a few days when I came back in Libreville, my neighbours asked me if I had an idea what the smell was in the building . . . . . .

Makokou is a beautifull place in the northeast of Gabon. I love to stay there - but I guess currently they have some Ebolalike decease there. But when that is over go there and stay at Belinga Palace a small concreate hotel overlooking the river that slowly passes by, bring your flypole if you want to fish and sip a beer while watching the sunset...last time i paid 13000 cfa = 130 ffr = ??? euro a night not cheap but then - its not a cheap country...
In the night u might bomp into natural photographers golddiggers or wwf people, the area is much under survey both by naturalists and capitalists - its quite inspiring to stay there...
