As far as I've seen the Ghanaian coastline, the beach at Elmina is the most beautiful part there is. At the eastside of the town, on the road towards Cape Coast, you'll see the sandy beach, not with white sand but at least with yellowish sand. And all over the place you see a wide line with palmtrees bordering the coastline.
Walking around here is great, and so is sitting here in the shade of the palms, with a great view of St. George's Castle. All the time, children will come by who are playing at the beach and who love to pose for a (digital) camera.

Right before St. George's Castle you will see the very active and colourful harbour of the town. Boats full of fish come in and out here all day long, decorated with flags and colourful paints. The tradesmen in the streets around the harbour are always noisy and busy with selling and buying their goods, and countless women walk around with their heads full of fruits, yams and fish, a lot of fish.
The boats, pinasses, are very typically African: long wooden boats that can go surprisingly far into open sea with the small sails that are attached to them.
