Ashante Home Touch: A Good Place To Eat

This was a good full service restaurant with a large menu and a good selection of beer. The atmosphere was relaxed and open-air. Security was visible, but there were no problems that I could detect. I had FuFu, but that is a local dish that I still need to get used to, especially eating with other people from the same dish (I don't know if I'll ever get used to this). I had a vegetarian pizza that was very good. Other selections for pizza and alot of other dishes were available, but I try to stick to vegetarian as much as possible. Also on the menu were chinese food and local dishes (FuFu, Banku, and Kanke).

A well managed restaurant with an amazing buffet of local Ghanaian dishes as well as a large choice of continental and Chinese dishes, most of which are even available! An absolute rarity in Ghana, just like the fact that you will find the owner in her business most of the time.Any special request or dish you may have she will readily try and prepare in a short time.The place is well kept, neat and service is swift and friendly.The food is prepared and served with a maximum of regard on hygiene, also not the standard in Ghana.On weekends there is unfortunately a loud disco set up, blaring away popular hits ad nauseam, but during the week, the music is at a tolerable volume.One may chose from a huge buffet of freshly prepared local Ghanaian dishes like Banku with Okro Stew, Akple with catfish, TZ, Apapransa etc. or order a la carte from a menu . The Pizza is above the average in Ghana ....

(local vendors and hawkers): A cool, cheap and refreshing snack

To avoid dehydration, you need to drink loads right?I found frozen drinks really helpful, especially in the middle of a scorching day when you don't want a bowl of rice. They cost 500 cedis (in old money), about 6 US cents! and are basically ice lollies, but in refreshing flavours: pineapple, orange, lime, etc.There are many varieties of this theme, usually found in tro stations, on personal vending stalls, or from hawkers, especially around Ring Road.As well as ice lollies, there is "Ice cocoa" - cold chocolate milkshake, and FanIce - a company providing vanilla icecream (FanMilk), chocolate ice cream (FanChoc), strawberry yoghurt (FanYog), all in a small plastic packet, ideal for drinking on the spot. They are be-autiful, but these cost a little more, as it is a proper trademark business.

PALOMA: AFRICAN FOODS

loved the food and shops at Paloma. If you want to hang out at a comfortable relaxed place, it's great. The rooms were comparable to the Quality line of hotels here in the U.S. The service is always Great, however you must have patience because nothing moves as fast as one may like. There is a courtyard with an art shop and icecream shop among other boutiques. I'd go there again. FUFU,KENKEY,
