    Mole harbors typical savanna species of animals. To date, 93 mammals, 33 reptiles, 9 amphibians, and 304 bird species have been recorded at Mole. The dominant faunal species are elephant, buffalo, waterbuck, roan antelope, hartebeest, kob, bushbuck, oribi, red river hog, warthog, aardvark and savanna duikers. Five species of primate - green monkey, patas monkey, Geoffroy's pied colobus, olive baboon and galago occur in the park. Lion, leopard, hyena, serval, caracal, genet and wild cat are also present.

    Mole N.P. - Ghana

    Mole National Park is the largest and best known wildlife area in Ghana. The park is situated between latitudes 9 degrees 10 minutes and 10 degrees 10 minutes north and longitudes 1 degree 30 minutes and 2 degrees 15 minutes west. It is located in the territory of the West Gonja and Bole District Assemblies.
    The park is very popular with tourists visiting northern Ghana, as it is the best location to view elephant and a wide selection of other wildlife species under relaxing circumstances. It is also the only protected area in the country with a functioning overnight guest facility within the boundary.

    Wild Buffalo at Mole

    When I hiked with the guide in the afternoon, we were able to cover more ground than was possible with the girls in the morning. I observed the strange to and fro rumbling herds of buffalo, as well as a number of antelope species.
