The restaurant at the Mole Motel is the only place to eat if you stay there. Make sure you bring plenty of patience when waiting for your food. The first night we arrived quite late, and ordered our food around 19:00. They didn’t have any of the main local dishes on the menu, as they took too long to cook and would have to be pre-ordered at lunchtime. OK, that is fine. Unfortunately, it seemed like everything took too long, as it was well over an hour between ordering and getting our food.

The second day, we were wise to this, so pre-ordered our food in the morning. We ordered it for 19:00 (as suggested by the waitress), and turned up at the restaurant at 18:45 and let the staff know we were there and ready. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. Michael got fed up with waiting after 45 minutes and went to bed. His soup arrived about 15 minutes after he left, but we never did see his main course. Two other dishes not belonging to us arrived, sat on the table for a while, and got taken away again to another table. The food eventually came well over an hour late. Again. By that stage I was almost past it.

Favorite Dish: The food was good though. We both had guinea fowl curry the first night, I had it with mashed yam and David with Jollof Rice. The second night I had Omo-Tuo which was a chicken ground-nut soup served with a sticky rice dish for ‘dipping’. It was very tasty, very rich – a little like chicken satay. David had Palava Sauce with Chicken and boiled yam. It was quite spicy and there was enough yam to feed a small army.

The only place to eat in the park is the Motel's restaurant. It's the only one, but a good one. The meals they serve are good quality and normally cost around 40.000-50.000 cedis ($4-5 US). The choice is both Ghanaian dishes and international dishes, with the chicken khebab and the pepper steak as my personal favorites.

Do note that the breakfast is only served until 11 AM, the lunch only until 2 PM and dinner starting from 5 PM. For dinner, it's wise o order your dinner in the afternoon, at lunchtime already and make an appointment for the time you want it to be served, because service can be terribly slow.

You can order your drinks at the Restaurant, but if you want to save more then half of your money on drinks, you shouls go to the Rangers Canteen, opposite the starting point of the safari's. You can just take away you drinks here and drink them at the restaurants tables, as long as you bring back the empty bottles when you're finished.
