An interesting incident with...

by jamesgroleau

An interesting incident with an elephant was the pinnacle excitement of our trip. It was casually on its way to the water hole. It appeared to be in no big hurry, so we elected to not wait for him to cross our path, but rather move on past. When we drove between him and the water, about 5 yards from him, he looked up, became very disturbed, and trumpeted loudly! Annoyed that we would block his path. His ears fanned out, and his trunk was lifted high. (A display of attack by an elephant.) His large tusks suddenly appeared far more formidable than beautiful. Our guide in a voice no doubt intended to sound calm, but failing miserably, suggested, 'Maybe we go soon!' We did, immediately! Don't walk alone at night as they tend to think tourists are very rich.Stay in public places after dark (which is around 18.00)Don't trust just anyone, eventhough the person might look real honest and sincere.Pretend you know where you are if the taxidrivers ask, to prevent them taking you far out in nowhereland. If you are paying for something, the correct price is usually half of what they demand. Be hard and determined or else they will rip you off.

Thief!!

by JesEse

If you are getting mugged in Ghana, yell "thief" and people will come to your aid. I found that most Ghanaians will come to your aid if you're getting cheated (i.e. in tro-tros) or getting mugged.

crossing a suspension bridge at anytime can be off-putting for those who suffer from vertigo; but when the bridge in question is suspended above the trees, it needs a second thought.
