This fort really is a beauty!! It is well restored and after a guided tour you can hang around as long as you want, looking at the local youths playing football next to the fort, gazing at the ocean waiting for empty ships or looking at the birds and contemplating the past.

After traveling a lot in Ghana this Axim Beach Resort or Hotel is relay boring. Of course the view over the ocean is great. But beside this, its the worst quality resort I ever visited in Ghana so far. When you expect that a included breakfast means a breakfast you are wrong. Its a scary buffet with a single preserving jar whit jam and some slices bread. The frood served was for four days spoiled. When you like to eat somting more up to the standard you have to pay.
The diner was not so bat, beside that they offer piza without knowledge how to make one. The chips are more fat as patatos. Thank God that fish is not easely to fall through so it tased good.
Whit the current exstended number of resorts along the coast, make up your maind and think about visiting Lou Moun or Green Turtel. Both nice en well equiped resorts where the like to receive guests.

The hotel has two restaurants so you can choose from a hilltop view looking down on the rocky bay or a beach view with miles of deserted beach.
Both catch a refreshing breaze which practically keeps the mozzies away all the time.
Favorite Dish: Our fave dish was the Chicken & Groundnut Soup either with Kenkey, FuFu or just plain rice. So rich, tasty & satisfying! :-)
PS: If it's not on the menu, ask for it!

Favorite Dish: I had lobster and I'm still dreaming of it! The local lobster is smaller than his colleagues I eat in Europe from time to time, but don't worry: you get four of them!! Taste was delicious.

The town of Axim, in the West of Ghana, is not so much visited, which is a pity. It has a very nice fort, Fort San Antonio from where you have wonderful views. The atmosphere in town is very relaxing...
The Hotel is at a great location, but the service is rather bad. It's about 6 hours drive away from Accra, more in the Hotel evaluation.
