Inspired by someone who emailed me, let me spell out for you the HOW to get here options...
1. Air France-- Most Expensive, but good movies, nice looking flight attendents and comfy seats.
2. SN Brussels-- usually about 300-500 less than AF, but more cramped, food is not that great and to get to the states you MUST pass through NEWARK!
3. Air Moroc-- never taken it but some say it is ok for the cheapest way to get out of here. After that... you're on your own!
Hope this helps any who have quesitons!

Ok, so you want to get out of your area and see the town? Well, then it is time to stand on the corner and either wave your hand or shout!!!
Actually the Taxi situation here is pretty good. It does not take long to flag down a driver and they actually love haggling with you... it is kind of fun! You will meet some really interesting people and if you rent the taxi (deplacement) yourself, it is cool because you can stretch out and talk to the driver about ANYTHING!!!
Tried to ride with others once, but I need my elbow room!!!

This vehicle is known to some as a "Mini-bus" but to those of us in Conkary... it is called a "magbana!" This is a rolling death trap that encloses about 15-20 people in it. You can pick one of these up to go from one side of Conakry to the other, but NOT advisable!
I personally have never taken one, but then of course when you see arms, legs, people hanging from the back and heads out... you kind of loose interest and find a smaller taxi!

If you are of the kind that likes to live on the wild side... you may buy a motor bike here! They are about 500-600 USD and will get you around the town. I have seen people on these weaving in and out of traffic, squeezing into places that people cannot pass, flying past you at incredible speeds and more than 2 people on them... mostly without helmets or protective gear! In fact, people that wear seat belts in a car are frequently stopped by the police because they know you are not from here, so they try to get money from those that don't know!
I love bikes, but not here! Not only are the bikes themselves not the best, but the traffic and people behind the wheels are NUTZ!!! So, if you get one... please be careful and watch out for all the TAXI!!!
