Favorite thing: This Turtle was found on the shores of Conakry 2 days ago. You will not believe the size of it! People actually started trying to cook it!!! Seriously! People came by and cut pieces off and took it back to their houses to eat! No idea what it tastes like... and don't want to know, but it is not good!
No news from BBC or Reuters yet, but this is probably as big as an election here!

Favorite thing: If you are in need of calling around town, and you don't want a cell phone... there are these little boutiques all over!!! They really aren't bad and only cost about 500GNF or $0.15 per min. Sometimes the networks are down here and you still need to get ahold of people... try these out! I have seen only 3 "house" phones here! They just really don't exist! Usually these little boxes just tap into the phone wires that hang above and they get an open line that way. Illegal... well... YES and NO!

Favorite thing: Ok, so you are sick and in need of serious or not so serious medical attention.
The only reasonable choice is to pass by the International Hospital near the airport, keep moving when you see Ambosie near the Camayanne and don't stop till Carriere area! Here you will find the best doc in ALL of Conakry!!! Her name is Madam Dumbouya and she rocks!!! I have gone to her for the second time since I have been here and she knows her stuff.
She has been here for a long time and does all the work herself.
Your best bet to a speedy recovery at half the cost!!!

Favorite thing: If you are thinking about staying here for awhile... I am a teacher at the International School. Although tuition is high, you do get an education from an American based cirruculum.
We are about 100 students strong and still growing. We have plans to build a new school and the arrival of new American teachers.
Fondest memory: This is a picture of my class at our Holiday Event where we sang to the school! Well... they did, not me!!!
We have a great class this year!!!

Favorite thing: Ok, now they are saying the this is a whale, but I have no idea? They took a chunk out and have sent it to be analyzed. What do you think?
Fondest memory: This will go in my memory bank forever!!!
