In general, Conakry is a nice place to travel for work or business.Otherwise I find it a bit restricting, in terms of leisure activities and so forth. What surprised me is that Conakry has the potential for a good shopping experience at very cheap prices. In the darkest corners and most dilapidated buildings you may find a french styled shop selling good quality leather handbags, and shoes. The market is good, but it is also the place I would be wary of, especially if you go shopping alone. Not recommended at all,especially if you are a tourist with money. Sure, there are some tolerable places to hang out. Most places also close early. However, there are several good restaurants, Chinese, Vietnamese etc, and quality of food is good and service great.
