I was in this area to see some of the landscape and found the hills just outside the main hussle and bustle of the trading pit! Excellent hiking area that you can even do some novice rock climbing w/o a harness or spotter! There were others that had guides in the hills, but not many. Ran around for about 3 hrs and still did not get to the top... looks smaller than it is! Best part was walking through numerous villages to get to the base! Of course people stopped and stared, but that is part of the fun... right?

Conakry itself is not the nicest place to see, but if you travel about 3 hours into the country, you will find Kindia. There are wide open areas, mountains to hike and waterfalls to stand under. Cooler than in Conakry, but worth the trip if you want to get out of the city and buy textiles and other wood carvings that are better made and cheaper! Went to a waterfall and stood under it... extremely peaceful and refreshing from the dust and dirt of the rest of Guinea! Also, the man who does wood carvings and I bargined for some nice presents for myself and family!
