This is pure Kenyan styled bar & restaurant situated along the main road which leads from Mombasa to Malindi. It is held by my dear friend Esther Akoth, young, beautiful and ambitious woman hardly to belive that she is already mother of three. The restaurant is small but cute offering good inexpensive food and relaxing atmosphere. Do not miss it when around because each one is welcomed.
Favorite Dish: Nyama choma (grilled meat) is the speciality of the house. I suggest you "kuku", which is kswahili expression for the chiken. Kenyans grill chiken in many different ways and all of them are tasty and always fresh. Besides chiken you should try grilled tilapia too, it is delicious fish coming from the Victoria Lake. Not of less importance to know, Esther is from Luo tribe known as the best fishermen in Kenya.

After ten days of Kenyan food my stomach needed something else, more like usual food I have back home. The restaurant "Il Covo" was my logical choice since Croatian cuisine is very similar to the Italian.
The restaurant is located right on the Bamburi Beach, offering magnificent view at the ocean from its huge terrace. The interiors looks alike partly to what we know as "osteria" and partly to those Italian "piano bars". In fact, there is a musician playing famous Italian songs mostly.
Acces to the restaurant, from the road side, is a bit complicated. It is advisable to get there by the taxi, especially after dark.
Favorite Dish: My first idea was to order seafood but than I saw "costoletta al Milanese" in the menu and have change my mind. It is very European dish and I am used to have it once a week when at home. Costoletta was very jummy, same as potatoes and seasonal salad. I took red wine after but it wasnt Italian as the boy told me. All in all, it was pleasant European kind dinner in Kenya.

The restaurant & pizzeria "La Pergola" is one of those simple places where each of us feels relaxed, enjoying in a good and inexpensive food. It looks Kenyan style but the ambient is pure Italian, more like genuine osteria or trattoria one can see all around Italy.
It is Fulvio's place, Italian guy from Genova who relocated to Kenya some 16 years ago, found here new home, friends and enjoyable style of life. Fulvio becomes my dear friend with whom I spend good times chatting about his and mine home countries and Kenya which we both love dearly.
Favorite Dish: In case you cannot live without pizza, "La Pergola" is a must, offering the best pizza I ever had in whole of Kenya. Take note, this pizza is made on woods! The same goes for spaghetti too, don't miss them when here. But of course, there are many other Italian dishes to taste and all are real good. In case you are lucky Fulvio himself will make calamari for you, but do not search them in the menu, calamari are for friends only.
In case your day need to starts with pure Italian espresso, this is the right place
