Spent a week in Malindi and although it's a great place beware of the traders there. They mean well, and while it's not really a tourist trap, you need to make sure you can haggle good with them and talk them down in price on the articles they are selling. This is fun and can be enjoyable but never agree to pay what the price says. In fact on may occasions, they become irritable if you don't try to haggle with them.
On a similiar note, Malindi has many hookers and streetwalkers so be sure to stay clear of them as diseases are rife in this region and on the African continent in general.
Unique Suggestions: All you need to do is haggle the price down. Guaranteed that if you show no interest and walk away they will drop the price in an attempt to get you to buy.
