Forthy Thieves is very good restaurant situated right on the Diani Beach. It offers both traditional Kenyan and international food. Our taxi driver ordered grilled chicken with potatoes made in traditional way and it looked very good. We ordered grilled calamari (squids), following suggestion of the weiter, but it wasn't that good. Actually, it was far away of mediterranean way which am used on. The price, however, was good because I paid less than 20 euros for three dishes. Leave a Comment

Diani Beach, situated about 30km south of Mombasa, is residential area where most of the houses owned white people. It is rather small town known for its huge white- sandy beach, open to the Indian Ocean, and because of wind favourable for sailing. Unfortunatelly, it was pretty much cloudy when we visited it and the colour of the sand couldn't look intensively white as it looks under the bright sun. Leave a Comment

by BerniShand The Equator runs right across Kenya, so Mombasa is officially in the Southern hemisphere you can tell this because the water goes down the plughole in an anti clockwise spiral, in the Northern hemisphere it goes down in a clockwise spiral no-one here is 100% sure wether or not it just goes straight down while actually on the Equator, I think it must do Leave a Comment

The hotel rooms are located just afew yards from the beach, thus giving a beautiful view of the ocean. and fine breeze and their food! its just delicious whether it be fine dining or just casual quick bite it was just yammy! easpeacilly i like the ''Mishikaki'' small meat of either beef or mutton berbecued in a skewer.

I went to a beach area which I seem to remember is to the south of Mombasa called the Twiki Lodge. At the north end of the beach was a rock formation that turned out to be a cave. It looked to have shimmering walls and roof which, once my eyes had adjusted to the light (or lack of it) turned out to be thousands of brightly coloured crabs!!!! Leave a Comment

by Linky_Pinky The wood carving village is a good day out, see chunks of wood turned into finely carved works of art, not the same as the crudely carved bits on the beach and in the town and not too expensive all prices displayed. Leave a Comment

As all cities, mombasa too has its dark side, but because of poverty and drugs theft and car jacking is a big issue. Do not wear any jewelrey, even if its fake, take care of your belongings at all times and most of all its not safe at all at night. Avoid the police, where possible as they are very corrupt, where possible travel in groups. Leave a Comment
