The beach beside Club Selima is not a pristine white sandy beach as found at Diani beach a few kilometers away. It was very quiet and usually the only people we saw were locals searching the reefs for shells. The first few days we used to just walk along the sand looking for small shells, especially cowries, but later became more adventurous and waded out onto the reefs.

A pair of toucans used to visit the nearby trees. Other birds like sandpipers, heron, egrets, ibis, oil-palm kites and trumpeter hornbills can be found.
When the tide was out we would stroll out to the reef and collect shells. The beautiful helmet shells are protected, but some of the locals will try to tempt you into purchasing them. Look, but decline. There are enough other beautiful small shells to satisfy the beachcomber.
Later we'd have a swim in the pool. It was an idyllic paradise.
