Crocodile Camp: Crocodile feeding in Tsavo

    Croco feeding

Ok, in the Bush there is not much you can do, as soon as the sun goes down, it tends to get very dark. If you are lucky you have a Camp with electricity - but mostly the light is barely enough to be able to read or write something. No TV, no Radio (except you took one with you).
So what you do? Normally you gather around the Camp fire, look how it burns and exchange stories of what you saw during the day or whatever.

Crocodile Camp has the much mentioned Tourist attraction of Crocodile feeding at night.

Punctually at 9 o' clock one of the workers of the camp will come with a bucket of meat, stand at the wall that seperates the Camp from the crocodiles area - the river in front of it- and begin shouting.
That sounds like: "Cooooooome Caroolinaaaa, coooooome ..... Cooooooome Susannaaaahh ... cooooome ....... ....... coooooome Marinaaaaaam cooooooooome ...."
I don't know if actually all the Crocodiles in this river are females, but it sounded to me as if he only shouted female names....
So, now if you are lucky -and the crocodiles hungry (which must not be), one or more of the crocks will show up. Slowly trotting up the river slope and then catching or better taking the meat that is shot to them.

Dress Code: Whatever you happen to have with you. With 10kg Safari Luggage allowed per person I did not take any elegant clothes with me, which is also not required.
Since the crocodile Camp is located quite high, you should have a pullover or a warm jacket with you.

BTW as a non-resident of the crocodile camp, you can come and watch this, too. As far as I have seen, you pay 2.50 Euros at the entrance for it....
