of course it is best to have your own transport through the park as this means you can go whereever you want and stop as often and as long as you like. there are a number of organised trips, but for those who have to keep a close look at their budget (and the entry prices for tourists hiked up again since Jsan 2011!) there is, at least on weekends, the chance to hop on a bus organised by Kenya Wildlife service. It usually picks up visitors during midday in the city center (I guess you can also join at the park gate) and will offer you a more "local" experience - most of the passengers are unmotorized Kenyans, maybe some school class etc. Given that there are usually quite a number of kids aboard they stop at one of the picknick sites so everyone can stretch their legs as well
