In my opinion, the best night life in Kenya is overlooking a floodlit watering hole from any one of several game lodges! I enjoyed staying at The Ark in the Aberdares (the Aberdare mountain range forms a section of the eastern rim of the Great Rift Valley in west-central Kenya, northeast of Naivasha and Gilgil and just south of the Equator. The range has an average height of 11,000 feet (3,350 m. The Aberdares slope gradually east and southeast before the ground rises again to the cone of Mount Kenya (17,058 feet [5,199 m]). This higher altitude makes for a cool, almost chilly, lush rainforest area. If that sounds like an encyclopedia it's because I just looked it up myself!) The Ark, built to look and feel like Noah's ark, overlooks a saltlick and water hole. At the Ark, if, during the night, any of the big game animals (elephant, rhino, lions, leopards) come up the staff rings a bell that sounds in all the rooms so all the guest will know something new has arrived. (One ring for elephant, rhino & buffalo, two rings for lions or leopards). Unfortunately, the night I was there was a very quiet night. I stayed up a little past midnight watching the two hyena chase a bushbuck. Tip: If you like photography, bring a high speed film! Floodlights do not, of course, provide adequate light to photograph animals at a distance and the animals don't exactly stand still! A flash would naturally tend to spook them. A fairly western style bar with a bit of everything - pool, satilite TV, dancing, meals, etc. Frequented by a middle-upper class clientel of which many take quite an anti mzungu stance unfortunatley detracting from an otherwise pleasant place to drink. A pub near Lake Baringo. That's the place to be. ;-) This pub, totally different then we are used to of course, is nothing more than some kind of shed. Not really cosy and very quiet but in spite of that I had a wonderful time here. Dancing on reggae music played from a very old transistor radio and drinking beer out of bottles. It became a little late this evening. Leave a Comment Theme: Eating and Drinking

Dancing Kikuyu's by duke0123 Nightlife during safari's? Almost impossible. When you're staying on a campsite with a lodge it sometimes happens that there will be a performance. This performance, a traditional dance, was done by some Kikuyu's. Of course, the 'white' people had to join them. After this performance it was possible to dance on modern (well, it was actually from some years ago) music. Leave a Comment Theme: Dancing

Florida 2000, known for it's good music, is also home to con artists, drug dealers, and lots of local prostitutes trolling for desperate white men. The other people I know who have gone there have reported being harrased by prostitutes or by their pimps. Because of this, it's probably better to avoid the place and go to other local hangouts in the area such as Sharks. Theme: NightclubAddress: It's off of Moi Ave

At night the Mara comes alive. .....make a point of listening carefully and you will likely hear the sounds of the bush tell the story of whats going on!. Listen out for the cackle of a Jackal, the whopping of a hyena and the deep roar of the lion. If you are located near a forest area listen carefully for the cough of a Leopard as it moves through the night to hunt... Theme: Other
