Nairobi - Casablanca: Hookahs & Hookers

by wrldtravler

Alright so most of the nightclubs in nairobi have a certain percentage of working girls there. So it's unfair to only label Casablanca's as their hunting grounds. It just rhymes with hookahs, thats all. Also the reason they're there at any of the nightclubs is cause even nairobi is on the sex tourist's map.The place has a great arabian theme and the cavernous rooms cave decor give it a nice feel. Dress Nice.

Nairobi - Mercury Bar: Best Cocktails in Nairobi

by wrldtravler

One of the few places i saw in Nairobi with interiors that could be called modern and minimalist. The cocktails here are what it's all about. The crowd is mostly expat. The music on nights when are DJ's can be quite persuasive, on night with no DJ it can be background musicish which isn't necessarily a bad thing if u wanna just sit and have a few drinks over conversation. So i guess it fluctuates between nightclub and lounge bar. Dress Nice, you're in Kenya!

Nairobi - Havana's: Nice but they might rip you off

by wrldtravler

They are a restaurant by day which i haven't visited but i hear the food is good. By night it turns into a nightclub. With Thursday Nights being their big night.Been there in the nights on two occassions both times i had a weird experience. The location is nice and the place attracts a lot of crowd. Though the first time i was being incessently harrassed by a drunk patron. The next awful experience was buying the first drink for 300 Ksh and the next for 500 Ksh. Apparently they are notorious for ripping people off. Most of the expats just go with it out of pity and the whole they really don't make that much deal. It's just a matter of principal and it sure sucks to be cheated. Dress Nice but i don't think they will enforce any sort of dress code here. Maybe shoes are a must no flip flops.

Nairobi - Gypsy's: 4 Bars in one

by wrldtravler

Perhaps one of the best places in Nairobi to be a regular. During the day you will come across working professionals who have come there with their friends or colleagues for some food and beers. There are over 4 bars here all themed differently, some posh, some sports bar themed and some specializing in live music. On the weekends they put up huge tents on the sidewalk and the entire bar spills over onto the street and everyone is having a roaring time. Again In Nairobi it's all about dressing up and hitting the nightclubs. So make the effort.

Nairobi - Black Diamond: Chaos

by wrldtravler

Located on the first floor of what seems to be like a mall is Black Diamond. The quintessential Nairobi Nightclub experience. The place is packed with a good mix of locals and expats. The dance floor is indoor and seperated with huge glass doors. They have an outdoor area with tables and a separate Bar. The music is generally a ix of local songs and western hits. There is another nightclub right across from the black diamond entrance within the same mall and others are across the road and other are a few feet down the street. Close enough to walk to.The area is full of music and life on Friday and Saturday Nights. Dress trendy if you expect to get attention especially from the ladies.Everyone will be flaunting it so look the part.

I have a friend who told me about this club in Diani, it offers really good entertainment and somewhere to dance and drink. The music is varied with local music and also international sounds, there is a dj playing the tunes. Also sometimes there are local shows. casual

Florida, Pizza Garden, Kengeles: Great Nightlife

by firedawg550

The two Florida clubs are cool except they're full of pretty hookers lol. It kind of spoils the place so try some GREAt live music. My favorite place was the Pizza Garden in Westlands. While there, try the mix grill. I'll get the name later, but its fantastic. There are a couples places called Kengeles around. They always play great live music, and the Pilsner is always cold. By the way, of all the great beer in Kenya, I believe Pilsner is the best. Nobody wears shorts in Kenya...nobody.

Casablanca: Arabian nights in Nairobi

by sulla

My favourite place to hang out when i lived in Nairobi. A stylish place, you can enjoy good Italian pizza, excellent strawberry daquari and shisha on huge bed size sofas in Lamu style while listening to music on the hit lists (which tends to tune into indian hits after about 2am!). The place also has an excellent restaurant next door and also an outdoor area which real bonfires and beach sand! The clientelle consists of both locals and expats, but can at times seem too crowded with (extremely beautiful) prostitutes.. Well, thats Kenya for you...! Casual Smart

Listen carefully to the sounds of the bush

by sarahskinner

At night the Mara comes alive. .....make a point of listening carefully and you will likely hear the sounds of the bush tell the story of whats going on!. Listen out for the cackle of a Jackal, the whopping of a hyena and the deep roar of the lion. If you are located near a forest area listen carefully for the cough of a Leopard as it moves through the night to hunt...

Kenyan bars: Liveliness all around

by croisbeauty

During the week some bars look almost deserted, some of them even closed but on friday night everything changes drastically. On friday, bars are overcrowded by the both, locals and tourists, who come here for dancing, meeting friendsand and enjoying in inevitable Tusker, fine and not too strong local beer. If getting hungry, after dancing on a hot african rhytms, "Nyama choma" is just a perfect choice. It is traditional local dish, hashed grilled meat a bit dry but peppered, what makes you very thirsty. However, do not exaggerating with the Tusker, even if not that strong!
