Beach: Night dancing!

by grandad

Cheating really! - this entertainment was provided by the numerous sand crabs that inhabit the beach.Every evening they appeared in their hundreds dancing back and forth across the beach and down their sand holes.

Various: Nocturnal Game viewing

by grets

Many lodges put out food for the nocturnal species, such as this civet, and one even placed a lamb in a tree for the leopard. Other lodges have flood lit water holes where game come during the night to drink. The lodges will wake you on request, you just have to specify which animals you want to be woken for. Also available is a night drive. We went on a drive with a driver, armed ranger and a spotter. We saw many nocturnal animals, including the curious spring hare, which looks like a kangaroo when it jumps. Although not as spectacular as a day-time drive, I personally feel that a night drive is worth it for a different perspective on a safari. Dress warm as it can be surprisingly cold at night!

anywhere: before the night...

by call_me_rhia

Let's face it: I did not bother too much looking for nightlife in Kenya... I was most happy with admiring an amazing sunsets: this picture is taken from the bar on the 6th floor of the royal courts hotel sipping a passion fruit juice. I went for a walk in the old town later on at night but - even if beautiful - it could not compare with that sunset beauty anything

@ your hotel: african dances

by call_me_rhia

Most seaside hotels, if not all, offer some shows of african dances in the evening. They are obviously made only for tourists - but they can be pleasant and they also provide local people with a sort of income...so I guess why not. Some costumes are quite colourful, and the drums sound is excellent. There are also a couple of discos in Malindi (someone once recommended the Stardust) and a casino - but I must admit that I could not be bothered it depends on your hotel

Sams: Sams cheesey disco

by eralc

This is a club we went to alot. Very cheesy music, even cheesier music, but a nice atmosphere. Even being white I didn't feel out of place, and the locals don't really look at you, unless one of the men takes a fancy....then you may have a job getting rid of them!!Be aware when ordering! I orders a vodka and coke one night and instead of a glass, I got a quater bottle of vodka and a glass of coke. Needless to say I was more than a little trashed by the time we got back to our hotel! Kenya chic. You'll know what I mean if you've been in Kenya for any length of time.

hide yourself, don't make a noise

by stonefree

and strain your ears in your tent. Hear the sound outside.Cry of nocturnal animals in distance, rustle of something passes along near, chorus of insects...all the kinds of such noises surrounding you ease you from the excitement of the day. And go to sleep peacefully...

The Highlands Hotel: Cooler in the Highlands!

by Bwana_Brown

While in Molo (near Nakuru) we stayed at the Highlands Hotel. This was winter and up in the hills so the evenings became chilly. The one night that we were there, my wife and I joined the local Kenyans at the hotel bar (we were the only tourists staying at the time) and had a great time by the roaring fire listening to the singing and talking. It really was fun! Photo of our room's location at the hotel.

Having a drink near Lake Baringo

by duke0123

A pub near Lake Baringo. That's the place to be. ;-)This pub, totally different then we are used to of course, is nothing more than some kind of shed. Not really cosy and very quiet but in spite of that I had a wonderful time here.Dancing on reggae music played from a very old transistor radio and drinking beer out of bottles. It became a little late this evening.
