So this is where the villagers around here get their water, theres no much to see here except the deep volcanic lake nearby which is steeped in myth. The story goes that an old lady was denied food and lodging by the residents of a village and in a fit of wrath she brought down a massive flood on the village.

Lake Victoria is the second largest fresh water lake in the world, and although Western Kenya does not attract many tourists and is blissfully free of safari minibuses, it is the most densely populated area in the country and the most productive. With gentle hills and emerald tea plantations, it is also very pretty, with unique weather. The majority of people here are the luo community whose main activity is fishing, thats why whenever you mention fish in kenya, people think of Luos same with Maasai with their cattles

A few Km from my Village is the late 1st vice president of Kenya home now a museleum, He was a luo chief and a prominent figure in kenya struggle for independence. He later became an opposition leader and was put under house arrest after the failure of 1982 coup against Moi's Government. He was later assasinated in 1994 and he's body was electrified and put to rest his home village now a Museleum.

Possibly the best barber in East Africa! Not so much because of the quality of the haircuts although I was well happy with me trim, but the old boy in this gaff gives a really good head massage, all included in the price of the cut. I came floating out of the barbers after my massage and only came round after my 2nd Pilsner. If you have the choice get the old boy to do your hair rather than the younger camper bloke with purple hair.

Although it isn't the best hotel in Kisumu, The Sunset Hotel has a feature that sets it apart for me. All of its rooms has a balcony view over Lake Victoria. I can never forget the super views of the eagles, the little fishing fleets, the thunderstorms and the sunsets.
