the nightlife is abit different from in nairobi, the clubs in elodert are sams which is expensive but worth the money, cyclone this is more of a hip hop club playing hip hop music and some R&B, then there is smiles this is dead cheap and plays well african music and some modern music. i suggest if you can't speak swahili get someone who can before going out cos not everyone in elodert speaks english. oh and to be on the safe buy vodka bottles instead of shots.
Anyone visiting Eldoret has to go to Sams nightclub or "Cheesy sams" as it has become known. It is a club in the centre of eldoret it is open till all hours and plays cheesy pop and has amazsing Cycadelic lighting, if you have a problem with funny lighting maybe a visit is not worth while. However it is a good night out, but be warned stick together or you are likely to be dragged of onto the dance floor and Kenyan dancing is rather rauncy to say the least. But dont let this put you off.
This is a dingy little restaurant in a not-so-nice hotel, but it has the best beef curry I've ever eaten. It also has a vegetable sauce to dip fried chicken in that we actually have craved since we've been home in the U.S. The decor is not great, but it's typically Kenyan.
Favorite Dish: Beef or chicken curry!!!
The Elcove restaurant is a loverly place to eat. I went there for my 19th Birthday just after I arrived in Kenya. It is just opossite the New lincoln hotel. It serves chinese food. The restaurant is a large place all nicely set out. There is a good range of food on the menu.
When we went there where 24 of us eating anf where the only people in the restaurant so i would not bother about trying to book. When we arrived and sat down all the power went of so had a candle lit dinner which was very nice.
The food does take along time to come not sure if that was due to the electricity or not, but if you are hungrey would advise ordering quickly.
Other than that the service is good and so is the food.
Wills is a very good restaurant to go to. If you have been ruffing it for a long time and walk past Wills you will get an impression of it being very posh but once inside its nice and relaxed.
It is on the main street running through Eldoret. It has a nice bar and sells loverly food. Ranging from pizza to burgers and pasta. It is resonably priced you are likely to for a hotdog, chips and drink you will pay ksh200 (£2.00)
Favorite Dish: The burgers are amazing and so are the hotdogs with ketchup and all the trimmings. The pasta is very good too. For those who actually like ugali you can have ugali and stew hear aswell.
Not so much a danger but an avoidance tip.
After lieing in bed at the lincoln weekend apon weekend listening to the loud music from the club next door we decided that it was about time to see what all the fuss is about so we ventured in. This is not advisable. 200 pairs of black eyes turned and stared as we walked in. The place is very smelly and very hostile. The people there make it clear you are not welcome. So no matter how much you wonder what its like dont bother.
