This is what offering panoramic spot, fantastic view at the mighty and beautiful Rift Valleay, which is considering to be the stomach of Kenya. Rift Valley is the most cultivated part of Kenya, with lots of farms and it is the stronghold of Kikuyu tribe.
On the right side of the picture, in the distance, there is volcanic Mt. Longonet, beautiful resort and now National Park. It name derived from Maasai word "oloonong'ot" meaning mountain of many spurs or steep ridges. Left of it is Mt. Suswa also of volcanic origin. Here is also Longonet earth satelite station.

There is nice resting place on the road to Nakuru but I didnt catch its name. The trip from Nairobi to Nakuru, if travelling by car, isnt that long but still short stop for a drink or buying some specific local souveniers is always welcome. The souveniers are, more or less, alike to all other one could find everywhere in Kenya, except for the caps made of sheeps fur.

When we stayed at the Kembu campsite in Njoro we visited the farmhouse annex. First we walked around in the women-cooperation, where the women were making and selling dolls, jerseys, hats and other things of wool.
We visited the farmhouse in the afternoon at milking time. They milked the cows mechanically. Some of the milk was reserved for the calves. We accompanied the men who went out to feed the very young calves, which were taken from their mums just after birth. And yes, they were black & white like at home.

These green cliffs are something! It makes the park look big! To me any way! Great land here. Like most all the parks in AFRICA! Too
bad it has a fence around it, and even worse
a town trying to push in!! Big shame on this!!!
Thats our firewood we collected along the way. You know by now I love the big camp-
fires! 10/2001

The lazy DAD! A few of the babies that are here. The RHINOS do well here! The place is for them. Hardly get to see them anywhere else! But, I would rather run into them out in the BUSH!Then run up a tree!

The path along the shore-line. The RHINOS
like to rest in the cool breeze. It is getting hotter now as the days go by. They sleep,
look lazy. If your lucky they start your way.
Most times not. But, DO NOT CROWD THEM!

My first time seeing this! PELICANS using
the THERMALS to get their lift into the sky.
They seem to be moving ever so slow. It's also the first time my guide JAMES seen one
this big!! Right over the edge of the LAKE.

They can't see well. But it looks like they see us here. Notice the town in the back ground.
Wish it wasn't there!
