THE MONEY TRICK
This is an easy problem to avoid – if you read this tip before you go. Lesotho’s currency is the Loti with plural being Maloti. It is tied to the South African Rand on an equal basis and you can pay in either currency. The problem? Outside of Lesotho no one will want Maloti from you and if you find somewhere to exchange it back in South Africa – be prepared to loose a lot on the conversion. Simple. Take Rands and ask for change in Rands - if they have it. Don’t keep a lot of Maloti. What little you have you can use near the border to buy a cold drink or something.
